A monthly equivalent, a one-time purchase and a free edition are not interchangeable. Compare the same number of people over the same period.

Do not compare a subscription with an unlimited lifetime license
Nitro Standard is a subscription, while Classic is sold for a defined three-year term. A perpetual PDF-XChange license has another upgrade and maintenance model. Compare the same people, currency and time horizon; keep an unresolved checkout price unknown rather than calling it zero.
Make batch work an explicit requirement
If OCR or conversion runs on batches, test the whole batch and inspect the saved files. A free application may support a single document but cap tasks, pages or file size. Sejda Desktop Free is a useful example of why a free purchase price does not mean unrestricted processing.
Keep your templates and old outputs accessible
Save copies of forms and completed PDFs before a license expires. Reopen them with a second reader and check editable fields, fonts and annotations. For a workflow that must stay disconnected, read activation requirements separately from local file processing.
Common questions
Is Nitro Classic the same purchase as Nitro Standard?
No. The current vendor pricing page presents Standard as a subscription and Classic as a three-year license. Do not substitute their prices or feature entitlements.
