Why WhatsNew2Day exists

Changing software starts with a practical question: will the replacement handle the work you already do? A familiar brand name or a long feature list cannot answer that on its own. WhatsNew2Day brings the edition, platform, task requirements and known costs into one place so you can make a more informed shortlist.

A focused software finder

Our starting point is PDF editors and screen recording. For PDFs, we separate jobs such as editing existing text, recognizing a scan, creating fillable forms and permanently removing text. For recording, we look at capture, exported files and hosted sharing as different parts of the workflow. You can browse by task, compare exact editions and follow a switching checklist.

One editor, clear accountability

WhatsNew2Day is owned and edited by Feroz Sheikh. Feroz sets the project's scope and is responsible for publishing decisions, the research approach and corrections. The published record identifies the source of a claim and, for an original test, the task, environment and saved output behind the result.

Evidence you can inspect

Official documentation explains what a vendor says an edition offers. Attributed user reports describe another person's experience, including any uncertainty about their plan or version. Original task results record what happened in a specific run with supporting outputs. We keep those evidence types distinct. A passed task applies to that task and environment; it does not certify an entire product.

Useful limits belong beside the features

We show edition restrictions and unresolved requirements alongside the capabilities. Offline use has separate questions about installation, activation, disconnected work and optional cloud services. Cost comparisons use established prices and billing terms; missing charges stay unknown. This helps you identify what still needs checking with the vendor or with your own non-sensitive files.

How commercial links are handled

The public finder is free to use. Official vendor links remain available. Where an approved affiliate link is shown, it is labelled and we may earn a commission. Commission rates and affiliate enrollment are excluded from the matching rules. The affiliate disclosure explains this policy in more detail.

A new chapter for this domain

WhatsNew2Day previously published news. The current project focuses on software research and replacement workflows. The present catalog, comparisons and guides belong to that new purpose; previous news coverage is not evidence that we tested a software edition.

Help improve the record

Software changes, and readers can help spot an outdated price, an unclear limitation or an edition mismatch. Send the page, the exact fact and a supporting source through the corrections form. Reports enter the editorial review queue, and approved factual updates carry a revision history.
