Three kinds of evidence
Vendor documented means we inspected an official source. Independently tested means a reviewer recorded the exact edition, version, operating system, fixture and outcome. User reported means an attributed third-party account whose scope and disclosure are shown. It is not our own task test. These labels are never interchangeable.
How matching works
Confirmed failures exclude a candidate. Partial or unknown must-have capabilities do not become exact matches. An exact match also needs a fresh passing task test on the selected operating system. Eligible candidates are ordered by preference matches, comparable known cost and a stable name order; affiliate status is not a ranking input.
Freshness by field
Price and license facts are due for review after 30 days. Core capabilities are due after 90 days, or sooner after a relevant release or credible correction. A successful source fetch does not reset the human verification date.
Original task tests
The fixture registry covers editing and reopening a layout document, OCR of a controlled scan, form preservation, redaction extraction checks and a timed screen/camera/audio task. A result must identify its environment and limitations. The published PDF24 Online redaction result covers one Browser fixture only. Other edition, task and OS combinations remain untested unless a dated result is displayed.
Editorial review
Automation can detect a source change and open a review item. It cannot silently publish a new price or capability. An accountable editor approves a recorded change, and the previous revision remains available for rollback.
Where we draw the line
No invented reviews, universal quality scores or paid winners. Unknown does not mean no; a failed fetch does not mean discontinued. We link to official vendors and do not host application downloads.
