Lady Gabriella Windsor’s smile as she stepped out at a branch of Boots in London last week will no doubt warm the hearts of royal fans across the country after the royals suffered a horrific tragedy earlier this year.
Gabriella, 43, was spotted picking up some essential cosmetics in the capital six months after the death of war hero and financier Thomas Kingston, who died in February after suffering a traumatic head injury.
Following her sudden and tragic death, the royal family rallied around the royal, a second cousin of King Charles, inviting her to join the royal procession at Ascot in June and allowing her to return to Kensington Palace with her parents, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.
She has rarely been seen in public since Kingston’s death, but a sighting on Kings Road gave royal fans hope that despite her grief, she is on the road to healing.
After leaving the shop on Kings Road, Gabriella hailed a black cab on the main street before speaking to the driver, opening the door and getting into the cab.
She looked in high spirits as she walked into Boots in central London to do some shopping last week.
The 43-year-old looked chic in her vibrant blue outfit, a long skirt and matching cardigan, as she stood on the pavement holding her sunglasses.
She opted to wear her long blonde hair down with a straight blow-dry and decided to go out with natural makeup.
Gabriella accessorized her look with an extravagant necklace that featured gold charms, along with a turquoise beaded bracelet.
Other photographs of Gabriella show her walking down Main Street with a big smile on her face, a welcome sight amid her grief.
According to Gloucestershire Coroner’s Court, Thomas Kingston died on 25 February from a “traumatic head injury” and a gun was found near his body in an outbuilding at his parents’ home in the Cotswolds. He was just 45 years old.
His father found his war hero son by forcing his way into a locked building after Kingston had visited for lunch with his parents, senior coroner Katy Skerrett said in March.
Police and paramedics were called to the scene after a family member made a 999 call. Police said Kingston’s death was not suspicious.
Gabriella paid tribute to her husband in a joint statement with her family at the time, describing him as an “exceptional man who brightened the lives of all who knew him” and calling his death a “huge shock to the whole family”.
After leaving the store, Gabriella hailed a black cab on the main street.

During this difficult time, her friends and the Royal Family rallied to support Gabriella after she moved out of the Notting Hill home she shared with her husband and back to live with her parents, who live at Kensington Palace, according to the Mail’s Richard Eden.
One of her friends said: “They wanted Ella to be with them and she didn’t want to be alone in the house she shared with Tom. We are all working together and everything will be fine.”
Gabriella made her first public appearance since her husband’s death at Royal Ascot this year, appearing in the carriage procession accompanied by Princess Anne and Peter Phillips.
A picture showed King Charles’ niece Zara Tindall warmly hugging Gabriella as she arrived at the event in June.
She was seen speaking to Princess Eugenie, who was among the members of The Firm who attended the equestrian event.
Just a couple of days before Royal Ascot, Gabriella made a low-key appearance at Trooping the Colour at the weekend, after being invited by the King.
She was seen watching the parade with her family inside the palace, including her brother, Lord Frederik Windsor and his wife, Sophie Winkleman, with whom she was standing.
Lady Gabriella was photographed watching the performance behind Princess Anne, her husband Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Lawrence and the Duke of Kent.
