The Royal Palace of Denmark has released two new portraits of Queen Margaret today to mark her 84th birthday.
Looking effortlessly elegant, the royal, who abdicated in favor of her son, King Frederick a matching bag.
To add a touch of sparkle to her ensemble, the mother-of-two rocked a pair of chunky gold earrings, while leaving her hair up to show off the statement jewellery.
The photographs were taken at Fredensborg Castle, which is the same place where the Danish royal family celebrates their birthday privately today.
The royal residence is a setting that is only used for important family events such as weddings, silver weddings and birthdays.

In another image, Margrethe walks across the stunning monochrome tile floor, following her beloved dachshund, Tilia, who belonged to her late husband, Prince Henrik.
She also wears the Jubilee brooch, made by Georg Jensen to celebrate Margrethe’s 50 years on the Danish throne.
The stunning piece of jewelery features 50 grooves along the edge, representing each and every year since Queen Margaret’s accession to the throne in 1972.
The 18-karat gold beam represents God, the round shape is said to be a reference to Denmark’s strong bond and the heart symbolizes love.
King Frederick, Queen Mary and their sister Princess Benedikte greeted well-wishers outside the castle this morning, hoping to wish the former Head of State a happy birthday.
The former monarch has had a hectic couple of months as she shocked the nation with the announcement of her abdication during her live New Year’s Eve television segment.
Just 14 days later, Margaret, who ruled for 52 years, renounced the throne at a meeting of the Council of State and her son, Frederick, was crowned king of Denmark.
He said one of the reasons he decided to renounce the throne was because of his health problems, adding that he underwent back surgery in February 2023.

She said: ‘Everything went well, thanks to the trained healthcare staff who looked after me. Of course, the operation also made us think about the future: whether it was time to hand over responsibility to the next generation.’
It has been agreed that she will continue to be known as Her Majesty Queen Margaret and will be able to serve as regent if King Frederick, Queen Mary and Crown Prince Christian are abroad, ill or on holiday.
Over the past few months, visits and announcements about Margrethe’s whereabouts have been less common. So what has the Queen been up to since her abdication?
Just a week after renouncing the crown, the royal attended a special church service at Aarhus Cathedral with her son, King Frederick, and his wife, Queen Mary.
Dressed in a vibrant purple dress and matching gray fur coat and hat, smiling for the cameras as she headed to church.
She then attended the opening of the new Prins Henriks Skole in Frederiksberg on February 7 and opted to wear a large brown fur coat along with a blue plaid skirt and matching blazer.

Many royal fans awaited her arrival and opted to catch a glimpse of the former monarch on her trip to school and she was more than happy to oblige by smiling and waving to the crowd.
The royal also won the Robert Award for Best Costume Design for her work on Ehrengard: The Art of Seduction.
She said in an Instagram post via the official royal account: “I am deeply grateful, moved and proud of the recognition that the Robert Award represents.
‘Receiving an award given by the industry itself makes me especially happy, and it has been a great joy and pleasure to be able to contribute to the expression of the film.
“I would like to thank the entire team behind the film, but especially all those who have brought my ideas, sketches and drawings to life, including the talented people who have sewn and worked on the numerous costumes.”
Her Majesty also presented the Queen Margaret II Science Prize at the Royal Danish Society of Sciences in Copenhagen on April 10.

Last month, the former Head of State also traveled with the Norwegian royal family to watch the FIS Holmenkollen Nordic World Cup in Oslo, where she bundled up in a red scarf and wool hat.
The creative Queen has also been responsible for designing ballet costumes for the Tivoli amusement park in Denmark. The place will celebrate its 130th anniversary this year.
