Steph and Wiggs will play in the preseason game between the Warriors and Lakers; podz out originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
SAN FRANCISCO – Steve Kerr’s preseason Warriors roster roulette game continues, partly out of curiosity but also out of necessity.
Here’s an update delivered by the coach on Monday:
Podz breaks his nose
Sophomore guard Brandin Podziemskiwho leads the Warriors in minutes played during the preseason, suffered a broken nose on Sunday and will not play Tuesday against the Los Angeles Lakers in Las Vegas.
The injury occurred in the third quarter of Golden State’s 111-93 victory over the Detroit Pistons at the Chase Center. Podziemski received an unintentional elbow from teammate Trayce Jackson-Davis, left the game and did not return. They are putting a mask on him.
“He led the league in charges filed last year for a reason,” Kerr said. “He literally sticks his nose in there. He’s just a physically tough player. He said he’s not worried. The mask thing, that requires some adjustments, to play with a mask. We’ll see how he does, but he’s not afraid of anything. “He will be there as soon as (the medical staff) allows him.”
Brandin Podziemski suffered a broken nose last night, according to Steve Kerr.

Podziemski didn’t seem concerned, noting that this is his second broken nose, the first one he suffered two years ago during his time at Santa Clara University.
“I had to wear a mask before, so I know what it’s like,” Podziemski said. “It should be here on Wednesday, so it should be ready to go on Friday.
Wiggins ready to go
Veteran Wing Andrew Wiggins He is projected to make his first preseason appearance this Tuesday and will likely be in the starting lineup.
“He’s going to have some catching up to do,” Kerr said. “The other guys are just beginning to connect with what we are proposing and implementing. He will be a week behind them. Even though he’s been watching, it’s different when you have to feel it.”
Wiggins, the only certified rotation player yet to take the fieldwill be limited to 15 to 20 minutes, according to Kerr.
Wiggins spent first week of training camp in Hawaii deal with a respiratory illness. He began isolated practices late last week and progressed into Sunday’s practice. He practiced fully on Monday.
The leaders return against the Lakers
Stephen Curry and Draymon Greenneither of whom played Sunday, are expected to return to the starting lineup against the Lakers.
Curry suffered trauma to his right index finger Friday against the kings of sacramento. He left the game in the second quarter and did not return. He was held out Sunday as a precaution, Kerr said, adding that Curry would miss at least one preseason game courtesy of an accomplished veteran.
Green’s absence Sunday was not related to illness or injury. Like Curry, he also receives the courtesy of an accomplished veteran.
