Prince William and Harry unlikely to meet despite tragic death in family, royal commentator said

Prince William and Prince Harry are expected to avoid clashing at the funeral of their uncle Lord Robert Fellowes, according to a royal expert.

While it is not yet confirmed whether the Duke of Sussex will travel to the UK to pay his final respects to Princess Diana’s brother-in-law, one expert has suggested that even if he does attend, he will not meet William.

In a conversation with the Daily MailRoyal commentator Michael Cole expressed scepticism that his uncle’s death would heal the rift that had existed for years between the brothers. “Robert Fellowes’ death will not affect the family dynamic,” he said. “Prince William and Prince Harry have always been on good terms with their late mother’s sisters and brother.”

Cole added: “Apart from offering what will no doubt be their sincerest condolences to their Aunt Jane, the two royal princes will experience little or no effect from the death of their uncle. And they are certain to express their condolences separately, and strictly, for such is the gulf that has opened between them in recent years, compared with which the Gulf of Mexico is a mere puddle.”

Harry is believed to have “reached out to family members” including his aunt Lady Jane Fellowes following her husband’s death. According to a report by GB NewsHarry has also spoken to his uncle, Charles Spencer, as well as his cousins, in light of the family’s recent loss.

The strained relationship between William and Harry has been a focal point of the royal family dynamic in recent years. Despite the somber occasion, the funeral seems unlikely to bring the brothers closer together. Their separation at the funeral would underscore the deep divide that has persisted, even amid major family events.

As the royal family prepares to bid farewell to Lord Robert Fellowes, the public remains acutely aware of the tension between William and Harry. Their ability to navigate this family gathering without crossing paths will be a testament to the ongoing complexities within the royal family.
