Prince Harry’s hopes of working part-time as a royal (a scenario he once envisioned as ideal) look increasingly unlikely amid ongoing tensions with his brother, Prince William. According to GB News’ royal editor Svar Nanan-Sen, the chance of Harry landing such a role under Charles’ reign is slim and “never going to happen” when William eventually ascends the throne.

Talking about The Royal Record Podcast with GB NewsRoyal correspondent Cameron Walker explained that Harry had originally intended to establish a part-time royal role before eventually stepping away from the monarchy with Meghan Markle. “There is still a part of him that would want that and maybe he still hopes for it,” Nanan-Sen said. “But with his relationship with William, I don’t think that will ever happen. It seems to be completely off the table.”

Walker added that there is “a lot of nostalgia” for Harry when it comes to his connection to the Royal Family, especially in regards to the loss of his military titles, which was particularly painful for him. “What really hurt him was losing his military titles when the late Queen took them away from him,” Walker noted.

The podcast also touched on the wider implications of Harry and Meghan’s departure from royal duties in 2020, including the public criticism they have levelled at the Royal Family. The rift between Harry and William has deepened, especially after the Sussexes made allegations against William and Princess Kate.

Despite the ongoing tensions and legal battles, those closest to Harry, including Meghan, are believed to have urged him to focus on the future rather than dwell on past grievances. “Meghan and others really want Harry to start looking forward now, rather than looking back at his past and feeling bitter about it,” Walker said.

“Rather than constantly looking back and getting angry at various legal claims… Meghan wants him to look forward. So will Harry be swayed by that advice?” As the Sussexes continue to navigate their post-royal lives, the prospect of Harry returning to a part-time royal role seems increasingly unlikely, particularly with the strained relationship between the brothers and the changing dynamics within the Royal Family.
