A British woman traveling alone has revealed her top tips for girls planning a big solo trip, particularly to South East Asia.
She recently posted a video to share her insights into making safety decisions while traveling alone.
The video has already been seen by more than a million people and accumulated more than 300 comments.
Kyra told her 632,000 followers: “These are my best tips for traveling alone as a girl in South East Asia.”
Stay in a women-only hostel
The travel pro’s biggest tip was to avoid hotels and stay in women-only hostels.
She revealed: “First of all, if you can get a women-only hostel, I would recommend it.” I feel much safer in hostels, number one, than spending the night alone in a hotel room.
“You don’t know if anyone can come in, I don’t know. I feel a lot safer in a shelter and I feel a lot safer in a women-only shelter.”
“I have only stayed in women-only hostels. I wouldn’t stay in a mixed one, but it’s totally up to you.’
Kyra added: “If you’re with a friend or something, maybe it’s okay, but when I’m alone, you can’t trust people.”

Trust nobody
The TikToker’s second tip is to be careful with people and “don’t trust anyone” while traveling.
Kyra urged her followers to be safe and remember that the people around them are strangers.
She admitted: “That’s another tip: When you travel, I know it’s sad, but you can’t really trust anyone.”
“Don’t just go back to someone random, don’t wander the streets in the middle of the night in quiet places.”
Use apps to book hostels and transportation
The last tip applies to both safety and finances, as the TikToker recommended two apps she uses for a woman traveling alone to find accommodation and get around.
She advised: ‘One place to book hostels is Hostel World, which is an app. To be fair, there are probably better rates out there.
“When booking all your trips, such as ferries, buses and night trains, I book everything on 12Go Asia, which is another app.”
Concluding the video with a more general money-saving tip, Kyra added: “I also recommend, if you’re on a budget, eating local food, eating street food.”
‘You can get meals for £1 or £2 if you eat street food. It’s crazy how cheap things can be gotten.
Viewers quickly flocked to the comments to thank the travel agent for her advice and praise her for being so “brave.”
Viewers quickly took to the comments to thank the travel agent for her advice and praise her for being so ‘brave’.
One user asked: ‘Don’t you get bored being alone all the time? I don’t know if she could be alone for weeks?
Others responded reassuringly: ‘You’ll find people along the way to be friends with or do things with!’ and “I’m currently traveling alone and you meet so many people you’ll be fine.”
Another viewer pleaded: “Very good advice, especially for the girls, please listen.”
Meanwhile, another frequent solo traveler joked: “You can also get a doorstop, alarm and travel lock for around £12 on Amazon.” I always stay alone in hotels as a preference, but I always use this.”
Someone else chimed in and said: “Take care, I wouldn’t let my daughter do it.” However, she will go there with her friend next week. My heart is in my stomach.’
Others asked more questions like ‘Do you leave all your things at the hostel while you go out?’ and ‘How do you plan to stay in the hostels? Do you look before you arrive at the place or once you arrive you ask questions?’
“You’re so brave to travel alone,” another viewer praised.
Someone else admitted: “Having just left the UK as a single woman, I couldn’t stay in one of those dormitory style hostels. I have serious trust issues and the thought of sleeping in a room with strangers makes me panic.”
Another wrote: ‘When I was in my twenties, I traveled alone. “I only did it for a short time, but you really learn a lot about yourself when you do it.”
