A beloved 45-year-old father of four mourns her tragic death in Magaluf after separating from his wife

Father-of-four Michael Grant tragically collapsed and died in Magaluf early on Monday morning. The 45-year-old was found unconscious near Punta Bellena beach, leaving his family and community devastated.

Michael, an Irish physiotherapist and youth football coach, was on holiday with his wife, Leanne, and their four children, along with other Irish families. It is believed he became separated from his wife during a night out and became lost when the tragedy occurred.

Michael, who was staying at a nearby family resort, was crossing Martin Ros Garcia Street when he collapsed. A security guard alerted local police and despite efforts to revive him, Michael was pronounced dead shortly afterwards. His body remained in the street for several hours while police carried out an investigation.

A local merchant said The Daily Mail“I wasn’t here when the man died, it was about four in the morning. But when I got to work around eight in the morning, his body was still lying on the ground. It was horrible.”

Following the news of his sudden death, tributes have poured in for Michael. His family expressed their grief and said Michael will be “deeply regretted and forever loved”. His obituary reads: “Deeply regretted and forever loved by his heartbroken wife Leanne, four children Kayley, Niamh, Shay and Sofia, devastated parents Michael (Sam) and Marie (Grant), sisters Jeannette, Deborah and Deirdre, brothers and best friends Brian and Alan, in-laws Luke and Tina (Nolan), brothers-in-law Les and Shane, Shane’s wife Trish, sisters-in-law Lilian, Sinead and Catherine, Catherine’s partner Gordon.”

St Josephs AFC Waterford, where Michael was a much-loved member and head boys coach, also paid tribute to him. They wrote on Facebook: “It is with great sadness that we inform you of the sudden passing of our much-loved club member and head boys coach, Michael Grant. Michael was more than just a coach to us – he was a dear friend. His dedication, passion and love for children was evident in everything he did. He cherished every single one of them and his impact was immeasurable.”

The club expressed its condolences to Michael’s family and acknowledged the grief felt by the community, saying: “Michael was an important part of their lives and his loss is deeply personal to each of us.” Details of Michael Grant’s funeral have yet to be announced, but his legacy and the love he shared will forever be remembered by his family, friends and community.
