Two worlds collided on Saturday night when Taylor Swift got a mention on the WrestleMania 40 broadcast.
Jason Kelce, the older brother of the pop star’s boyfriend Travis, made a surprise appearance at the WWE event while helping Rey Mysterio and Andrade win.
And, naturally, a reference to Swift was made, just as they had been on NFL broadcasts throughout the season, even though the 14-time Grammy winner was not present at Lincoln Financial Field.
As Kelce hit the ropes after his big entrance, Peacock commentator Michael Cole asked, “Isn’t that what your brother-in-law’s name is?”
Cole clearly referred to the singer, but mistakenly assumed she was married to Kelce’s Chiefs star brother, Travis.
WWE Dropped a Taylor Swift Reference During Jason Kelce’s WrestleMania Appearance
The retired Eagles center made a surprise appearance at Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday.
Swift has been dating Kelce’s younger brother, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce.
As he began to apologize for his lack of knowledge of both the NFL and pop culture by stating that he was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, his co-host Pat McAfee began singing ’22,’ a hit from Swift’s fourth album, ‘Red.’
Swift and Travis Kelce have been dating since the summer and the Anti-Hero hitmaker attended 13 of her NFL games, including the Super Bowl, last season.
Travis has been enjoying some downtime with Swift at her $25 million mansion in Los Angeles following the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory and the end of the most recent leg of their international Eras Tour.
The singer met Jason and his wife Kylie at the Chiefs’ playoff game against the Buffalo Bills in January and it is believed she and Travis flew to Philadelphia to spend the Easter weekend with Jason, Kylie and their three daughters.
Kelce, an Eagles legend who announced his retirement from the NFL last month, donned an Eagles mask along with former teammate Lane Johnson as the pair ambushed Dom Mysterio and prevented him from using a chair against his father, King.
From there, Rey hit a double 619 on Dom and his partner Santos Escobar before splashing Escobar to secure the victory.
Kelce and Johnson then celebrated the victory in the ring with Rey and Andrade, before taking off their Eagles masks.
He and Lane Johnson wore masks and ambushed Dom Mysterio outside the ring.

The Philadelphia couple then stood on the rope and enjoyed the reception from the home crowd.

Jason was later photographed with wrestling great The Rock backstage.
Saturday marked just the second time Wrestlemania was held in Philadelphia, the last time being in 1999 at the First Union Center (now known as the Wells Fargo Center).
This time it was held at Lincoln Financial Field, the home of the Eagles, for whom Kelce played for 13 seasons.
