An ESPN reporter abruptly left an interview Friday with a Chicago radio station after appearing to experience technical problems.
Courtney Cronin, who covers the Bears for the network, was a guest on ESPN Chicago’s ‘Kap & J. Hood Morning Show’ to talk about Caleb Williams, whom Chicago could decide to take with the first overall pick in the NFL Draft of next month.
But when Cronin started talking about Williams’ press conference at the NFL Combine, his audio resonated loudly.
That prompted her to pull out her wired headphones and say ‘okay, fuck this’ out of frustration, and she walked away from the station immediately afterward.
As pointed out Horrible adIt is unclear if Cronin ended the video broadcast herself or if ESPN Chicago pulled her off the air after her insult.
ESPN reporter Courtney Cronin unplugged her headphones before the interview ended.
Radio hosts David Kaplan (left) and Jonthan Hood were visibly surprised by Cronin’s departure.
Caleb Williams is considered the presumptive number one pick and could land with the Bears.
Cronin first covered the Vikings for ESPN before moving on to the Bears.
He joined the network in 2017.
Williams is the presumptive No. 1 pick, but it remains to be seen if the Bears will trade up and stick with Justin Fields or move forward with the USC quarterback.
Williams decided to refuse medical exams performed on combine participants and also refused to share his medical records with the league’s 32 teams.
He is believed to be the first person in history to refuse a physical at the league combine.
Williams had also previously refused to participate in on-field workouts associated with the combine, waiting for his Pro Day at USC to showcase his skills.
USC’s Pro Day is scheduled for March 20.
