With the iOS 18 update coming this fall, it’s as if Apple had adulterers in mind.
You can lock and even hide apps using your Face ID, a feature many have dubbed “a cheater’s paradise.”
I guarantee you that many people in relationships will “hide” dating apps or their preferred secret communication methods.
Cheaters always find a way to sneak around, but not everyone is smart enough to know all the technological clues their devious paths leave behind.
Now, before we get to the clues… snooping around someone’s phone, computer, or other technological device never ends well.

Your best bet is an honest conversation with your partner.
It is also a good idea to consult with an attorney before you begin searching to ensure you do not violate any federal or state laws.
With that in mind, here are the clues that your partner might be cheating on you:
Red flag: They never put down their phone
Is your spouse or partner always glued to the phone or computer? Maybe work is crazy right now or they are busy chatting with someone.
Pay attention to how they behave with their devices. Many people keep their phones away from other people to protect their privacy, but most don’t hide their phones from their spouses. The same goes for switching browser tabs or shutting down a tablet.
These subtle gestures can suggest that your partner is doing something they don’t want you to see. Does he or she always keep their phone in their pocket? Does he or she change the password regularly and “forget” to tell you what it is? Maybe he or she insists that you can’t pick up or use his or her phone, period.
Notifications can also give away cheaters, so it’s common to turn them off or hide them if you’re doing something you don’t want your partner to see.
Red flag: fake apps
Unless your partner is shameless, you won’t see a chat app on their home screen or steamy messages in their text message folder.
There are many apps for sharing messages, photos, videos and more that are not what they seem.

Red Flag: Your story is always erased
Cheaters must be stupid not to delete their browsers’ search history.
If they routinely access dating sites, secret email accounts, or anything else, they’ll probably think about covering their tracks.
The same goes for empty text message folders.
Red Flag: They are always ‘working’
Scammers have been known to create online Google Docs or Microsoft 365 files that look innocent until you open them.
The file name could be, for example, “Third Quarter Goals.” When the file is opened, the first page appears to be filled with corporate jargon.
But scrolling down reveals the file’s true purpose. Online documents are a covert way to share notes, photos and videos with another person.
Red flag: They are always visiting that same place
Location history is particularly revealing. Most cheaters know to delete it, but not all. For Google users, the navigation system’s “previous destinations” menu option can record their spouse’s movements.
If your spouse uses an iPhone, there is one place you should make sure to look. Many people don’t even know this tracking treasure trove exists.
● You can find an iPhone user’s frequent locations in Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > System Services > Significant Locations (it’s at the bottom).
Systematically disabling or deleting these types of settings takes a lot of effort, so if they don’t do anything, you’re probably going to find something. FYI, you may want to disable this feature on your phone if this practice bothers you.
Red Flag: Your Trash Can Is Filled to the Brim
Deleted digital items are usually never gone forever. A computer’s trash or recycle bin holds items until the trash is emptied. Some cloud services allow you to recover items from the trash.
Deleted emails accumulate in the trash until they are emptied. Voicemails on an iPhone are deleted, but can be recovered. Apps deleted from a phone can also be restored. If you use carrier services, voicemails may be available on their site.
A word of caution: finding evidence of a cheater can be a grueling task. Make sure you take care of yourself during the process.
