Spider-Man fans were not impressed when Tom Holland made a surprise announcement on social media, and it had nothing to do with the much-loved Marvel character.
Tom, 28, took to Instagram on Sunday to post a teaser video showing him playing a game of golf with some male friends, as many of his fans began to speculate that it could be related to a new sportswear company.
However, on Monday he confirmed that he will actually be launching a premium non-alcoholic beer called Bero on October 16 and shared a photo of himself dressed in a blue and white striped shirt taking a sip of the drink.
Tom, who recently sent fans into a frenzy in a resurfaced video, kept the title simple, writing: ‘Something’s brewing… Released 16.10.24. Berobrewing.com LINK IN BIO”, but his fans were not very impressed and immediately took to the comments section to let him know what they thought.
“I thought it was going to be a Spiderman ad,” one person said, while another disappointed follower wrote, “The guy had the entire internet thinking it was Spider-Man 4 related news.”

A third person said: “Don’t scare me like that again,” and a fourth added: “We wanted the Spider-Man 4 announcement,” while the comments on X, formerly known as Twitter, weren’t much better. .
‘I thought he was going to announce his next Spider-Man movie what the fuck,’ raged one fan, while another posted: ‘Wait, Tom Holland’s announcement was about his new brand?’ It gave me a lot of hope for Spider-Man.”
Another user claimed: ‘I’m NGL, the only Tom Holland announcement we want is RELATED to SPIDERMAN,’ while others thought it was funny that fans thought a new movie was going to be announced.
“The way everyone thought he was related to Spider-Man or something,” said one, while another added, “Did they really think they’d leave TOM?” Announce something for Spidey 4 LOL.’
Other fans were very supportive of Tom’s new venture and couldn’t wait to try it, especially after he revealed last year that he had decided to get sober after realizing he was addicted to alcohol.
The Spider-Man star appeared on Jay Shetty’s podcast in July 2023, where he talked about how addicted he was after participating in a ‘dry January.’
‘I didn’t wake up one day and say, “I’m going to stop drinking.” “I, like many Brits, had a very, very drunk December, Christmas, I was on holiday, I drank a lot,” he began, adding that “I’ve always been able to drink a lot.”
“I decided to just quit in January, I wanted to have a dry January and the only thing I was thinking about was having a drink,” he admitted.

During an appearance on Jay Shetty’s podcast in July 2023, Tom opened up about why he decided to stop drinking alcohol.
‘It was all I could think about. I’d wake up thinking about it, look at the clock, “When is 12?” And it really scared me.
“I thought, ‘Wow, maybe I have a little alcohol,’ so I decided to punish myself and say I’ll do February too, I’ll take two months off.”
He maintained that if he could “get through two months of rest then I could prove to myself that I don’t have any problems.”
Tom said that after two months “I was still struggling a lot, like I couldn’t be sociable, I felt like I couldn’t go to the pub and have a lime soda, I couldn’t go out to dinner.” I was really struggling and started to worry a lot because I had a problem with alcohol.’
He decided to stay another three months sober until his birthday on June 1.
“I said to myself, if I can go six months without alcohol, then I can prove to myself that I don’t have a problem,” he said. “When I got to June 1, I was happier than I had ever been in my life.”
The actor is best known for playing Peter Parker in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, and most recently, Spider-Man: No Way Home, which was released in December 2021.
