A man has been charged over a fatal stabbing at a Melbourne home as an urgent hunt continues for his alleged accomplice.

Police found a 36-year-old man unconscious with stab wounds at a house on Victoria Drive in Thomastown, in the north of the city, at 8.40pm on Thursday.

Doreen’s man died on the property despite efforts to resuscitate him.

A 45-year-old Glenroy man who was arrested at the scene has since been charged with aggravated robbery, theft and common assault.

Homicide Squad detectives are still searching for a second man involved in what they believe was a targeted attack.
