Sydney commuters faced long delays on Monday night after a person near the tracks in the city’s inner city plunged the rail network into chaos.
The individual was seen near the tracks in Burwood, causing long delays on both the North Shore line and the Western line as hundreds of thousands of people tried to return home.
It is understood police were present and the individual was removed from the area at around 3pm.
However, the network was forced to halt rail traffic and chain delays were still felt during peak hours.

“Please allow for plenty of extra travel time due to a person being near the tracks at Burwood earlier,” T1 Sydney Trains posted on X.

Authorities urged travelers to allow more time for their trips, warning that delays would continue into the evening.
‘Services may be less frequent and journeys may take longer than usual. Delays are expected to continue throughout the afternoon.’
Social media users were quick to express their frustration over the robberies.
‘How can one person near the tracks cause chaos throughout the system for hours?’ asked one.
