The Block judge Darren Palmer has revealed the truth behind the shocking 2014 mobile phone scandal, which saw two contestants caught secretly filming the judges.
The shocking episode saw Darren, 46, carry out an inspection of the power socket under a bed designed by brothers Simon and Shannon Vos, only to find a mobile phone there.
A furious Darren stood up holding the smuggled iPhone and was heard calling the brothers “cheeky monkeys” and asking them why they had gone against the show’s rules.
“The phone was on and it was recording everything the judges were saying under the bed,” host Scott Cam told the brothers.
The clip has now been shared again on social media and Darren admitted that his shocking comment to the brothers had, in fact, been edited to hide what he actually said.
“Yeah, I didn’t originally say ‘cheeky monkeys,'” Darren wrote in the comments, hinting at a more profanity-laden comment towards the pair.
“We had to overdub ‘cheeky monkeys’ because what I said wasn’t really time-appropriate.”
During the broadcast, Darren’s lips appeared to say ‘cheeky bastards’, which is not an appropriate comment to utter on a family show.
The Block judge Darren Palmer (pictured) has revealed the truth behind the shocking 2014 mobile phone scandal, which saw two contestants caught secretly filming the judges.
In the episode, Darren, 46, searched under the bed in a home designed by brothers Simon and Shannon Vos (pictured), only to find a mobile phone there.
Despite the awkward blowup, the lovable Vos brothers won over fans with their creative ideas and reputation for pranksters and returned home from the series with a massive cash prize.
The boys won The Block: Glasshouse in October 2014 after the hammer fell on their newly renovated turf with a whopping $1.9 million.
They pocketed the remaining $335,000 of the reserve price, plus a $100,000 bonus, giving them a total of $435,000.
Shannon is a painter by profession and has a background in graphic design, while his younger brother, Simon, is a plumber.
Since claiming victory, Shannon has continued to show off her impressive renovation skills and recently created a luxury property in Torquay, Victoria.
Last June, Shannon transformed the four-bedroom, five-bathroom oceanside home, which hit the market with a price tag of $7.5 million to $7.7 million.
The clip has now been re-shared on social media and Darren admitted that his shocking comment to the brothers had in fact been edited to hide the X-rated comment he actually said.
Shannon designed the sprawling 10,000-square-foot home using cozy wood details, sleek polished concrete, and black hardwood floors.
Highlights include a glorious magnesium pool and terrace with an adjoining BBQ and entertainment area, which comes with its own Las Vegas-style sound system.
There is also a home theater room, a yoga and gym studio, an art gallery, a home office and a second living room on the ground floor.
Shannon, who runs her own business, Vos Creative, collaborated on the beautiful home with builder Stuart Voss and architect Frank Bienefelt.
