A taxi driver who allegedly stabbed a young man in the face in Sydney’s eastern suburbs has been charged over the incident.

Emergency services were called to Boundary Street, Paddington, shortly after 10pm on Friday, after reports that a 22-year-old man had been stabbed.

A 71-year-old man was arrested nearby and taken to Waverley police station, where police said he was assisting with their inquiries.

The taxi driver has been charged with reckless injury.

He has been refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Local Court on Saturday.

The 22-year-old was taken to hospital for treatment for a stab wound to the face.

He was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
