She got a tattoo with a ‘J’ in tribute to her then-husband Joe Manganiello during their relationship.

But now that the couple is no longer together, Sofia Vergara has had to give a new meaning to the tattoo on her wrist.

During an appearance in The conversationSofia, 51, humorously revealed that the tattoo is now a nod to her new boyfriend, Dr. Justin Saliman, who also has a ‘J’ initial.

“This was Joe Manganiello’s initial, but now it’s gone,” he said, laughing. ‘How lucky can I be that the boy I’m dating has the same initial. The new guy,’ she added. ‘Recycle! Recycle!’

His son, Manolo González Vergara, 32, who also appeared on the show with his mother, noted that his father, Joe González, has the same initial.

“By the way, my father’s name also starts with J,” his son intervened, referring to Sofía’s first husband.

Vergara split from Joe last year and finalized their divorce this year, and last year, she admitted that their breakup was due, at least in part, to the fact that he wanted to have children, while she didn’t.

In a candid interview with PeopleThe actress shared her true thoughts on motherhood, explaining that during her marriage to the Magic Mike star, Joe, 47, never felt like it was the right time to have a child.

“There are things in life that may seem like good ideas, but they are not,” he explained in the digital edition of People.

“I was already a mother,” she said, referring to her son Manolo.

“I know what it means to be a good mother or to try to be the best mother possible, and that takes a lot of sacrifices, it takes a lot of energy,” she shared, before explaining that she didn’t think she could do it. She was able to do that again at a certain point in her life.

“I totally respect that someone wants to be a mother after 50. I didn’t think that, because of my career, the way I live my life, the way my marriage was, that it was fair to bring a child into this world, and I’m not going to be able to give 100 percent.

As of October 2023, she has been dating her new boyfriend, Dr. Justin Saliman.

According to his website, Saliman is the inventor of the Novo Stitch Pro Meniscal Repair system, which allows the surgeon to repair meniscus tears instead of removing the damaged area.

While the actress has been very coy about how serious they are, during her interview with People she admitted that “maybe” they were an issue.

“I think now that I’m older it’s cool because you know exactly what you like,” the actress said of how she found love after divorcing Joe last year.

“I just do what makes me feel confident and beautiful,” she said of being a single woman over 50 in Hollywood.
