Australian radio presenter Amy Gerard has spoken openly about her concerns about breast checks after admitting she has breast implants.

Speaking on KIIS Network’s Chris Page and Amy Gerard show on Sunday morning, Amy reminded women to get checked regularly, but admitted to feeling confused about the process.

“My breasts are probably different from other women’s, but I had an implant put in about ten years ago,” Gerard began.

“I’ve been actively trying to feel around me and check for lumps or bumps,” she said of her self-checks.

“But to be honest, I don’t really know if things are different for me or if I just do things exactly the same way as someone who doesn’t have an implant,” she added.

‘I know that the female breast is crushed like a sandwich press (during a mammogram), and I don’t understand how that would work when there’s an implant there.’

A mammogram is performed by compressing the breast between two flat plates in a mammography X-ray machine.

While implants can affect results, those who have them can still get mammograms, although often with additional imaging.

These additional images, called implant-displaced views, help the radiologist evaluate tissue that would otherwise be blocked by the implants.

“I know you have to go in and smash it between the machines, but I really should go get mine checked out,” Gerard admitted.

This comes just days after the radio star underwent surgery to remove cancer from his face.

Gerard dropped the bombshell on his Instagram Stories on Tuesday.

In a series of posts, the mother of three graphically showed the process of removing a basal cell carcinoma from her forehead.

In a post-operative image, Gerard revealed that “this is the fifth basal cell carcinoma that I have had removed and before that I didn’t even put my face in the sun.”

Another photo showed a long row of stitches on Gerard’s forehead.

In a later video, Amy revealed that the surgery had dramatically altered her appearance by tightening the skin on her forehead.

“I shouldn’t laugh, but this is my normal face,” the author said as he fought back tears of laughter.

“I look very worried,” she said, explaining that the surgeon had pulled her skin taut while he stitched her up.

The procedure had raised his eyebrows, giving Gerard a permanently worried expression.

“Let’s hope it gets fixed. It’s very tight.”

The health update comes weeks after Gerard detailed how she received a comment shaming her as a mother on Instagram.

One of her followers sent her a private message in June to tell her that they thought it was “inappropriate” and “unhygienic” for her to kiss her children on the lips.

Amy, a mother of three young children – Charli, Bobby and Kobe – read the message live and didn’t hold back in her response to the critical fan.

The message read: “Hi Amy, I love your videos with your son but I think it’s very inappropriate for you to kiss your children on the lips. Don’t you think it sends the wrong message and is also unhygienic?”

In response, Amy, who is married to husband Rhian, firmly calmed the troll down, telling him it’s “healthy” for parents to show affection to their children.

“I look very worried,” she said, explaining that the surgeon had pulled her skin taut while he stitched her up.

“The first thing is that he is my son and I will kiss him wherever I want on his face,” she replied.

“And secondly, he’s four years old, not 18. And as the mother who carried him in her womb, gave birth to him, and nursed him, I have the divine right to kiss his adorable little face on the lips.”

“And I’m going to do that until he says, ‘Mom, you’re embarrassing,’ and that’s exactly what happened to my other two kids.

‘There is nothing unhygienic, in fact, it is very healthy for parents to show affection to their children.
