Lauren Sánchez made her Met Gala debut while rubbing shoulders with fashion celebrities, accompanied by her Amazon billionaire fiancé Jeff Bezos, who skipped the red carpet, as they led the stars in partying all night.

The former Good Day LA co-host, 54, who was invited to the event by Vogue boss Anna Wintour on one condition, appeared to be having the time of her life on the biggest fashion night in town from New York.

Every year on the first Monday in May, Hollywood’s elite gather at the Big Apple’s Metropolitan Museum of Art for a glitzy ball that has been hailed by some as fashion’s biggest night.

At the event, Sanchez was seen hanging out with supermodels Gigi Hadid and Emily Ratajkowski along with actress and Elvis Presley’s granddaughter Riley Keough.

Her wealthy fiancé Bezos, 60, even joined her for a photo with her friend Kris Jenner, 68, and her much younger boyfriend, Corey Gamble, 43.

At the gala event, Lauren put on an incredible display in a custom-made Oscar de la Renta dress.

And it seems the dress was a major sticking point regarding her invitation to the event, as it was previously said that Wintour was “personally helping” her select a dress because the Vogue editor believes Jeff Bezos’ fiancée has ” tastelessness”.

Celebrity host Anna, 74, is known for being meticulous when it comes to who gets an invite to the coveted event and reportedly wants Lauren to attend on one condition: that she has a say in what she wears.

A source told a fashion journalist. Amy O’Dell recently that Anna is working with Lauren to ‘select her dress’ and that the couple is ‘choosing between custom looks from Oscar de la Renta and two other designers.’

“Anna doesn’t always get personally involved in guests’ attire,” the journalist wrote, but added that a source said Vogue’s editor knows Lauren has “bad taste.”

And while the dress itself at the event was certainly eye-catching, what was more surprising was the enormous new diamond Lauren wore on her ring finger, a massive pear-shaped design that dwarfed even the giant rock Bezos had proposed with. back in 2023.

It’s unclear whether Lauren had simply borrowed the stunning jewel for the event, or whether her fiancé splurged on an upgraded design, but she decided to let it shine, largely forgoing other accessories save another diamond ring on her pinky and a a pair of diamond earrings dangling from her lobes.

Meanwhile, her dress managed to attract a lot of attention.

Designed to look like “broken glass,” the strapless dress perfectly accentuated Lauren’s enviable figure, with the voluminous skirt flowing around her as she walked up the Metropolitan Museum’s iconic stairs and into the event.

While the top of the dress was relatively simple, featuring a black bodice with a strapless sweetheart neckline, the skirt was covered in intricate floral designs that looked like a garden mosaic, very much in keeping with this year’s dress code, The Garden of Time. .

The Costume Institute’s Spring Exhibition is held on the first Monday in May each year and is held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

This year the event is titled Sleeping Beauties: Fashion Awakening, while the dress code is The Garden of Time.

Jennifer Lopez, Zendaya, Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth were this year’s co-chairs. Also on the committee is Vogue Anna Wintour.

Honorary chairs for the evening are Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson and TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew.

“This year’s co-chairs reflect a variety of professional accomplishments and all have distinct style stories with the Met Gala,” Vogue shared.

The exhibit will feature approximately 250 items drawn from The Costume Institute’s permanent collection, and many of the pieces are too fragile to be worn again.

All pieces will be displayed using elements such as AI, GCI and more while playing land, sea and sky themes.

“It’s very much an ode to nature and the emotional poetics of fashion,” Andrew Bolton, Wendy Yu curator in charge of the Costume Institute, said of the upcoming exhibition.

“One thing I hope this exhibition activates is that sensory appreciation of fashion.”

Gwendoline Christie, La La Anthony and Ashley Graham will host, while YouTuber Emma Chamberlain is expected to interview the stars on the red carpet.

Last year’s gala paid tribute to the late designer Karl Lagerfeld.
