Australian runner Nedd Brockmann crossed the finish line of a massive 1,600km race to raise money for the homeless.

It took Brockmann just over 12 and a half days to complete the monumental 1,609km race shortly after 6:15am on Wednesday.

He started on October 3 with the aim of breaking the world record (running 1,600km in 10 days) while trying to raise $10 million for homeless charity We Are Mobolise.

Major injuries prevented him from breaking the world record, but he has still raised more than $1.8 million.

The runner burst into tears as he finished his final lap around Sydney Olympic Park before being inundated with friends and family congratulating him on the feat.

While running to the end of his previous race, the cult hero collapsed to the ground on Wednesday after finishing more than 38 marathons in less than a fortnight.

“I’ve never been through anything like this before,” he said after crossing the line.

“I’m fucking proud of that.”

Brockmann first rose to fame after running from Cottesloe Beach in Perth to Bondi Beach in Sydney, in just 47 days in 2022.

“It’s been hell and that’s why I love it,” he previously said.

After being at a breakneck pace for the first three days of the challenge, minimal sleep and recurring injuries slowed him down significantly.

On the 10th, he shared an update on his Instagram, stating that although he did not break the record, he would continue until he reached 1,600 km.

“As human beings, I believe it is our duty to get things done,” he wrote in the post.

‘These 1,000 miles around that track have been the most humbling experience of my life.

‘I have never felt so many emotions at the absolute maximum of them all.

‘I haven’t had any function of my right tib (tibialis anterior) since the end of the third day, so I’ve been snapping dictus band rubbers left, right and center.

‘I can’t sleep because the tendinitis everywhere hits me in the throat when it’s time to rest.

‘Feet have swollen three sizes due to rain/track. It’s a healthy thing.’

More to come.
