Tanita was born in Germany, but lived in Houston, Texas, until her parents divorced.

He then returned to Germany with his mother.

In 2016, she attributed her laid-back personality to her German upbringing.

“I’ve never been the kind of person who gets fascinated by stars. When I grew up in Germany, nobody cared about that kind of stuff,” she told People.

She returned to the United States in high school and earned a bachelor’s degree in design and visual communications from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles.

Michael revealed how Tanita has a similar personality to his in a 2013 interview with New York Familysaying that she is ‘a bit like me in that she has a very strong personality, but a quiet strong personality’.

“She’s not one of those people who walks into a room and makes everything about her. She definitely has an opinion and she’s very smart and knows what she wants, which I love about her.”

In 2022, she celebrated her daughter’s birthday with a sweet tribute on Instagram, sharing a current photo of them as well as a throwback to her as a baby.

“Happy birthday to my firstborn @tanitaa.st. Please help me wish her the most wonderful day. I’m so proud of the person and artist you’ve become my baby girl. Proud to be your daddy,” he wrote at the time.

In addition to Tanita, Michael also shares a son, Michael Strahan Jr., 29, with Wanda.

Wanda is also a mother to son Dorian from a previous relationship, who is often seen in family photos with Michael.

He also has twin daughters, Isabella and Sophia, 19, with his second wife, Jean Muggli.

The couple divorced in 2006 after seven years of marriage.

The happy baby news comes after Michael’s youngest daughter Isabella was able to return to college last month after taking a leave of absence amid her battle with cancer.

The 19-year-old had to endure multiple surgeries and months of agonizing treatment, including chemotherapy, to treat a rare brain tumor.

In July, she was able to triumphantly announce on her YouTube channel that she was “cancer-free” after undergoing her final MRI.

Isabella announced the news about her return to college by happily posting a selfie with her mom on her Insta Stories, writing, “Back at USC” in the school’s red and gold colors.

She was a college freshman when she was diagnosed with medulloblastoma in October after doctors found a tumor “bigger than a golf ball” growing in the back of her brain, causing her to have “excruciating headaches” and vomit.

Isabella documented her battle with cancer on her YouTube channel. In July, she shared that she had undergone another major surgery after ringing the bell to mark the end of her chemotherapy treatment.

She later took to YouTube to share another update where she happily revealed that she was cancer-free after undergoing her latest MRI.

The GMA host’s daughter shared that “everything was great” before admitting that she was excited to get back to her normal life and prepare to return to college.

Isabella has already spoken openly about some of the terrible symptoms she has suffered as a result of her chemotherapy.

At the time, he said his “everything hurt” and he felt like he was having a “heart attack.”

“My eyes are tired, it hurts to look to the sides. I feel like I’ve had a root canal,” she continued.

“They pulled out all my teeth and didn’t even surgically put them back in. My jaw hurts, the base of my tongue hurts, and it hurts when I drink water.”

Isabella explained on GMA in January that she began suffering from “excruciating headaches” during her first year of college.

“I noticed something wasn’t right since September,” she shared. “October 1 was when I definitely noticed headaches, nausea, I couldn’t walk straight.”

In July, she was able to triumphantly announce on her YouTube channel that she was “cancer-free” after undergoing her final MRI.

At first, Isabella said she mistook her symptoms for vertigo. Michael said that when his daughter told him about her symptoms, he never considered that they could be signs that she was battling cancer, especially since she was only 18 and “young, strong and healthy.”

However, on October 25, Isabella said her condition worsened severely and the teenager revealed that she began vomiting blood shortly after waking up.

According to Michael, he was told about his daughter’s brain tumor before she was, and explained that he “doesn’t remember much” about the moment he learned of her diagnosis, but only “remembers trying to figure out how to get to Los Angeles as soon as possible.”

Isabella was eventually diagnosed with medulloblastoma, which GMA says accounts for 20 percent of all childhood brain tumors and is typically detected in about 500 children each year, most commonly in those between five and nine years old.
