The film, which was co-written by Casey and produced by Damon and Ben Affleck, is about “two thieves who must go on the run with the help of one of their therapists after a robbery goes wrong,” according to Deadline.

Casey talked about what it was like filming the movie in his hometown so many years after moving to the West Coast.

“Boston has changed a lot,” he said. “It’s not really the city we grew up in… The whole country has changed. There have been a lot of changes in culture.”

He added: ‘On the other hand, it is the place where I still feel more at home than anywhere else.

“That says a lot about what a place does to you when you’re growing up. I’ll always be connected to this place no matter how much it changes.”

Damon added: “The Instigators is an augmented reality that we’ve built; it’s not the real world,” but “it’s grounded enough that it feels like a Boston movie.”

The Bourne Identity director Doug Liman is helming the Apple Original film, which is now in theaters and debuts on the streaming service on August 9.

The film also stars Hong Chau, who was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for The Whale, and Richard Jewell star Paul Walter Hauser.

Although Matt’s friendship with Casey’s brother Ben is better known, he and the younger brother have appeared together in almost as many films over the years.

Both were part of the eponymous gang of robbers in Oceans Eleven, Twelve and Thirteen, although Matt played a more prominent role alongside George Clooney and Brad Pitt.

They also starred together in Interstellar (2014) and Oppenheimer (2023).

And perhaps most famously, Casey appeared in Good Will Hunting with his older brother and Damon, who co-wrote the script and won the Oscar for it.
