Contrary to what season four of The Hills led viewers to believe, Lo Bosworth insists she was friends with Audrina Patridge.

During an interview with Page sixLo, 37, claimed the editing made their friendly relationship seem anything but.

“The season of The Hills where Audrina and I were at odds, when they filmed that season, I had no idea we were at odds,” he explained. “I thought we were friends, and then the edit came out and it wasn’t very flattering to me.”

Despite being on good terms during filming, she believes the final cut ended up making Audrina question their relationship.

“I think, unfortunately, for her that created a feeling of, ‘Oh, we shouldn’t be friends in real life,'” he recalled of Audrina.

“That season, in real life, we were totally friends and the show comes out and changes your relationship in real life.”

Lo stated that the editors already have the entire season planned out: “When you go to those shows, when you’re young, you don’t know that they already have the entire season mapped out on a wall with Post-It notes of the entire story with the arcs and this person.” is going to do this and this person is going to do that,’ he said.

He recalled a strategy the producers implemented to keep the season on track: “On our show, they basically sat us down for a scene, filmed it, and then repositioned the cameras.

“And they would do it five or six times and they would…make you say what they wanted you to say,” he said.

“They were doing it in such a way that they could finally get the cut they wanted and it fit the narrative they had planned.”

The Hills was the spin-off of another very popular MTV show that Lo starred in: Laguna Beach.

For three seasons, Laguna Beach followed a group of high school students in the affluent Orange County community before their post-grad lives continued on The Hills.

The MTV show that started it all is entering its 20th anniversary, and Lo teased a reunion with his Laguna Beach castmates.

Despite Lo's insistence that they were friends, she believes the final cut ended up making Audrina question their relationship.

“I think everyone who was on the first season of Laguna Beach, if there’s a reunion, agreed to do it, which I’m really excited about,” said Lo, who now works in the wellness industry.

“I think if they had asked me a couple of years ago, maybe I would have been more nervous about doing it. But I think at this point in my life, you know, for everyone watching, it’s the 20th anniversary of the show. For “It’s my high school’s 20th anniversary.”

The latest interview comes after Lo opened up about her experience filming The Hills during an appearance on Bethenny Frankel’s podcast. Just B with Bethenny Frankel.

She said of the show last month: “We were very young women constantly exposed to compromising situations where we had to fight against each other to get through a day of production.”

Bosworth had no interest in drama, which didn’t make her a good fit for the reality TV space, he noted.

‘I played a very specific role, which I am really grateful for in retrospect. I didn’t have to go too deep into it,” he said on the podcast.

Lo added: “But in the areas where I did it, it still haunts me to this day because there are so many stories behind this story that everyone saw on TV that go very against what the public thinks of you.”

He also speculated about why former co-star and classmate Lauren Conrad has stepped away from the spotlight.

‘I think that [she was] famous to the point that every time something negative happened, the setback felt so significant and so life-changing that you actually live with that trauma and it affects you in the future in terms of how much you are willing to share with people,’ he reflected.
