Derek was one of the first in the UK to become seriously ill with Covid-19 and was admitted to an intensive care unit when the country went into lockdown in March 2020.
He was one of the worst Covid patients in the country after being in hospital, but never fully recovered after the virus left lasting damage to his organs and meant he needed 24-hour care.
Derek had attended few public events in recent years. But he suffered a heart attack before Christmas and never recovered.
Derek had flown to Mexico for specialist treatment for long Covid on December 8, but while there he suffered a cardiac arrest and was forced to fly home.
At her funeral, Sir Tony Blair, Sir Keir Starmer and Sir Elton John were among those who gathered at St Mary the Virgin Church in Primrose Hill, where Kate married her partner in 2005, to say goodbye to the New Labor giant. .
