Jurgen Klopp has taken to social media to address his fans after news broke that the German will take on the role of Red Bull’s ‘Global Head of Soccer’.

It was confirmed on Wednesday morning that the former Liverpool manager had signed a long-term contract to take over the role, which will begin on January 1.

This role will require Klopp to be responsible for the international network of all Red Bull football clubs, including Leipzig, Salzburg and the New York Red Bulls.

He must advise clubs on training issues, playing philosophy, development and transfers of players and head coaches.

Now the former Liverpool boss has taken to social media to address fans directly and give them insight into his shock move.

The German will take on the role of 'Global Head of Soccer' for 'Red Bull'

Jurgen Klopp has taken to social media to address his fans following the news that the German will take on the role of Red Bull’s ‘Global Head of Soccer’.

On Instagram, Klopp said: ‘Hello. Some of you may have already heard it, others may not. From January 1, 2025 I will be Head of Global Football at Red Bull and I am really looking forward to it.

“A few months ago I said that I no longer see myself on the sidelines, and that is still the case, but I still love football and I still love to work and Red Bull gives me the perfect platform for that.

‘I want to share my experience that I accumulated over the years and we all know that there are much more successful managers. But in my career I fought for promotion, I fought against relegation, I fought for titles and I fought for trophies, sometimes we fail and sometimes we succeed.

‘And dealing with that is not easy, but it is possible. Then I want to learn again because when you’re at work and you have to play every three days you barely have time for that.

Furthermore, Klopp has negotiated an exit clause that would allow him to accept the German national team job, should he be approached.

In recent months it has been widely reported that the European giants have tipped Klopp as a possible successor to current boss Julian Nagelsmann, whose contract runs until the end of the 2026 World Cup.

Oliver Mintzlaff, current general director of Corporate Projects and Investments at Red Bull, is responsible for Klopp’s arrival, after having pressured for months for the German to join.

Klopp also spoke about his decision to join Red Bull on his website, where he admitted he “couldn’t be more excited” about the company.

talking to Red Bull websitesaid: ‘After almost 25 years on the sidelines, I couldn’t be more excited to get involved in a project like this.

“The role may have changed, but my passion for football and the people who make the game what it is has not. By joining Red Bull globally, I want to develop, improve and support the incredible football talent we have at our disposal.

“There are many ways we can address this by using the elite knowledge and experience that Red Bull possesses to learn from other sports and other industries.

‘Together we can discover what is possible. I see my role primarily as a mentor to the coaches and management of the Red Bull clubs but ultimately I am part of a unique, innovative and forward-thinking organization. Like I said, I couldn’t be more excited about this.’
