John Mulaney has revealed that Olivia Munn still gives him random drug tests after first performing a mini-intervention when she was six months pregnant.
The funny man, 42, who made fun of his time in rehab during his recent hosting on Saturday Night Livesaid he and his wife, 44, devised the plan to hold him accountable.
“It’s like a relief,” Mulaney said. GQ in his Comedian of the Year interview.
“I like that I can’t even have that question on her mind or anyone else’s.” he explained.

The comedian, who revealed the intervention that ended with him entering rehab in his Emmy-winning Netflix special Baby J, explained: “There was a time when I would have told them I couldn’t fly, sleep or perform unless I had a Klonopin.’
“I would have said, ‘It sucks because I don’t always want to take Klonopin and Xanax, but I have to.’
Munn and Mulaney had only been dating for a short time when she became pregnant with their first child.
“It was like seeing a man in a tsunami,” he said.
“I was watching someone newly sober, on the edge of a cliff, and I didn’t know him well enough to help him.”
The couple, who married over the Fourth of July weekend, also told the magazine that they agreed to raise Malcolm as a couple just two months before he was born.
Mulaney and Munn welcomed their second child, a daughter named Méi, on September 14 via a surrogate.

Mulaney explained his unusual strategy in an article with GQ that named him Comedian of the Year.
Munn was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2023 and underwent a double mastectomy and hysterectomy.
The surgery and treatment made it difficult for the Violet actress to care for her family the way she was used to, but Mulaney stepped in for her, she said in the Today show.
“John is just the most wonderful husband and father, so we find a way to make it all work despite how tired I can be at all times.”
The couple told the magazine that Munn staged a mini-intervention when she was about six months pregnant with their first child, Malcolm, almost three, and the two decided drug testing was a way to hold him accountable.
The couple, who tied the knot over the Fourth of July weekend, recently welcomed their second child, Méi, on Sept. 14 via surrogate.
Mulaney successfully completed one season of John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s in LA and has been preparing for season two.
“Doing the show really made me enjoy Los Angeles,” he told GQ.
‘Something clicked and I thought, “Oh, this feels like the future.”
‘There are a lot of things happening: aerospace, shipping, agriculture, industrial. This Hollywood thing is pretty small,’ he said.
