Jenna Ortega has spoken out about her feelings on the “politically correct” nature of Hollywood.
During an interview with Vanity FairThe 21-year-old actress, who stars in the upcoming Beetlejuice sequel, began by saying that the entertainment industry is “very touchy.”
“Everyone wants to be politically correct, but I feel like by doing that we lose a lot of our humanity and integrity, because it lacks honesty,” she told the publication.
On Wednesday, he said he wanted society to “have a better sense of conversation.”
“Imagine if everyone could say what they felt and not be judged for it, and if anything, it generated some kind of debate, not an argument,” he explained.

“Am I describing world peace?” he asked in a clearly playful tone.
She appeared to be alluding to her Scream 6 co-star Melissa Barrera, who was fired from the upcoming installment of the horror franchise for postings in support of Palestinians in Gaza.
Ortega rose to fame with her role in Netflix’s Wednesday, which became the most-watched show during Thanksgiving 2022.
She received Golden Globe, SAG and Emmy nominations for Best Lead Actress in a Comedy.
“For the past year and a half I’ve felt very far away from myself,” Ortega said, describing the experience as “very dissociative, alien and out of body.”
“When people mention my name, it’s almost like it’s been taken away from me. Now I feel like I’m floating and… open to interpretation,” she explained.
Ortega also called the concept of celebrity “absolutely ridiculous” but is passionate about acting.
“I remember feeling really bad for resisting,” she told the outlet. “I think if someone was in my shoes and reacted in a nice way, there’s something very wrong with you,” she said, displaying her dark sense of humor.

When it comes to Wednesday’s many fans, who dress up as her and appear in, for example, her Vanity Fair photo shoot, Ortega has an interesting perspective.
“Who could have predicted that someone as dark, twisted and sarcastic as Wednesday could bring so much joy?”
“The intelligence, the wit and the confidence that Wednesday has, I think a lot of us wish we had that in ourselves,” Ortega said.
“When you’re trying to create yourself and you take all these fragments of other people’s personalities and you create your own broken mirror…” he paused.
“Everyone wants to be politically correct, but I feel like by doing that, we lose a lot of our humanity and integrity, because it lacks honesty,” she told the publication.
“I’m sorry, I can’t think right now,” Ortega said, gathering his thoughts.
“I think that’s the beauty of Wednesday. She’s inspiring because she’s someone who doesn’t care what other people think.”
