Jamie Foxx is preparing to speak out about the mysterious health scare that landed him in an Atlanta hospital and nearly took his life in 2023.
And now, just days after revealing the news that he plans to speak about his near-death experience and more in a one-man show last week, the actor, singer and comedian returned to Instagram and wrote, “WHAT HAPPENED WAS” inside a simple black box.
The promo then cut to the title where it was revealed that ‘Foxx takes the stage to share his journey through a serious health scare, filled with humor, heart and inspiration.’
He goes on to add: ‘Experience Jamie Foxx like never before in this intimate and captivating performance, as he discusses his struggles, triumphs and everything in between.’
The 56-year-old Terrell, Texas native goes on to promise his fans to “get ready for a night of laughter, reflection and genuine connection.”
Jamie Foxx, 56, is promising to recount all the details of his mysterious health emergency last year that sent him to an Atlanta hospital in a one-man show he will perform three times in October.
He concludes by revealing that the next three consecutive dates he plans to play in Atlanta are on October 3, 4 and 5, that is, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
The promotional post does not yet offer specific information on locations and ticket details, but full ticket information is expected to be released soon.
As reported by many publications, Foxx was rushed to the hospital for a medical complication in April 2023.
In the 16 months since, the Academy Award-winning actor has shared only a few snippets of information about what happened, but has stopped short of divulging all the important details.
One such time, during the Critics Choice Association awards ceremony last December, she confessed that she almost lost her life during the medical emergency.
Then, about a month later, at the 7th Annual AAFCA Special Achievement Awards in February, he announced that he would finally be speaking about his health journey in an upcoming stand-up comedy special.
“Everybody wants to know what happened and I’m going to tell them what happened, but I have to do it my way,” he said at the time, while accepting the AAFCA Producers Award for his company Foxxhole Productions.
More recently, last June, in a video chat with PeopleThe Ray star said his emergency began with a “bad headache” in April 2023.
The Oscar-winning actor has gone back into promotional mode for his upcoming one-man shows in Atlanta, where he suffered a life-threatening medical emergency in April 2023.
Foxx went on to promise to take the stage “to share his journey through a serious health scare, filled with humor, heart and inspiration” from Oct. 3-5 at a location to be revealed soon.
The Texas native previously revealed how his medical emergency began with a “bad headache” and then he was out for “20 days.”
Foxx was filming the Netflix action comedy film Back In Action with Cameron Diaz at the time of the terrifying incident in April 2023.
About two weeks ago, Foxx went into promo mode for his shows in an August 16 social media post.
“In Georgia they have peaches and they have angels too. I’m going to go talk about some of those angels,” she wrote inside another black box, along with the three dates of the shows. “October 3rd, 4th, and 5th #I’mgoingtotellstory.”
In the caption, he explained, “I gotta thank a few people a lot. If you’re in Atlanta right now and you’ve been rocking with me this whole time, let me thank you personally,” which sounds like he’s talking about the medical workers who actually helped save his life.
“I asked my son for an Advil,” Foxx said, just before snapping his fingers to indicate how quickly he lost consciousness. “I was out for 20 days. I don’t remember anything. Then they told me I was in Atlanta and my sister and daughter took me to the first doctor. They gave me a cortisone shot.”
After mentioning Georgia’s famous peaches, Foxx revealed how the state also has angels, which he will refer to during his one-man show, along with the hashtag: ‘#igotastorytotell’.
Referencing those Georgia angels, the Ray star plans to give a big thank you to those lifesavers.
Further information regarding the location of his one-man shows has not yet been released.
Doctors eventually told the father of two that “something was going on up there,” as Foxx pointed to his head, before adding: “I won’t say it on camera.”
Foxx was filming the Netflix action comedy film Back In Action with Cameron Diaz at the time of the terrifying incident.
As the film was in its final days of shooting at the time, director Seth Gordon made the decision to use body doubles for the remaining scenes.
Back In Action, which also stars Glenn Close, Kyle Chandler, Andrew Scott and Jamie Demetriou, is set to release on streaming platform Netflix on January 17, 2025.
