A British expat has revealed the “disgusting” move an Australian man made before his date and why he might put off men in Australia because of it.
thassyfrom Birmingham, recently moved to Melbourne and decided to meet new people by going on some dates.
She met a man who asked her to come to his office for a first date because he had “a pool table and a refrigerator full of liquor,” but she refused and suggested a restaurant or bar.
The man then sent him a 30-second message. voice note saying, ‘Then let me know: where do you want to go and what do you want to do?’ I’m all ears. Yeah. You’ll probably say Soho or something. Some boring shit. But yes, we will do it.
‘It doesn’t matter. Simply – expensive line [entry], expensive alcohol. Why not? Beautiful, let’s do it.’

She immediately became angry and canceled the date, especially since he complained that he expected the date to be “too expensive.”
‘Ick’ occurs when attraction to a current or potential partner suddenly changes to a feeling of disgust because the individual did something disturbing or upsetting.
“Let’s leave it at that,” Thassy replied. ‘Your attitude seems to suck. I don’t need these vibes on a Saturday night.
The man quickly replied: ‘Yes, I felt the same. Bye bye.’
Thassy shared the encounter on TikTok and couldn’t believe dating in Australia was as bad as people say.
“British men are saints in comparison,” he said in the comments.
Thassy was taken aback by the man’s rude message and how little he seemed to care.
Many other Australian women shared their views on the incident.
