Jackson, 42, originated the role of Lucky Spencer, son of iconic soap opera characters Luke (Anthony Geary) and Laura Spencer (Genie Francis).

She made her GH debut in 1993, starring on the soap regularly until 1999, although she returned again from 2009 to 2011 before playing Avery Barkley on ABC’s Nashville.

Other actors like Jacob Young and Greg Vaughan would take turns playing Lucky, but now Jackson will return this summer, via Deadline.

General Hospital, which recently defended its casting of a black actress in the face of racist trolls, executive producer Frank Valenti recently said. ABC 7 at the Daytime Emmys that “a former cast member will return.” And I think the public will go crazy for him,’ which is Jackson.

He hasn’t been seen on the soap since 2015, when he appeared in a four-episode arc, but is now said to be returning for “a long season,” according to the report.

Jackson also confirmed the news in a social media post, which read: ‘I’m returning to @generalhospitalabc this summer! Excited for the journey to continue…’

The post also included a short video in which he told his 170,000 followers: ‘Hello everyone. I just wanted to let you know that I will be returning to General Hospital this summer as Lucky Spencer.

‘I’m very excited and can’t wait to dig in and see what’s going on in Port Charles. Excited to see Genie Francis, obviously, and so many others,” he continued.

‘I just wanted to thank all the fans over the years. “Your perseverance and love have certainly played a role in all of this,” he admitted.

He also thanked executive producer Frank Valentini, “and everyone at ABC for welcoming me back,” and was “super excited” and “just sending me so much love.”

“Guess I’ll see you all real soon,” Jackson concluded in his video message, which garnered more than 5,000 likes on Instagram alone.

Jackson won’t be the only alum returning to Port Charles, as another iconic GH character will return in August.

Bryan Craig will reprise his role as Morgan Corinthos, the late son of Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Carly (Laura Wright), although only for one episode in early August.

Craig played Morgan from 2012 to 2016, when his character was apparently killed with a car bomb.

Morgan eventually returned in the form of a “vision” seen by Ava of Maura West in 2018, although no details were given about this upcoming return.
