Fiona Bruce has revealed she isn’t afraid of getting older despite turning 60 next month.
In a candid interview with Woman and house, the British journalist and BBC Antiques Roadshow host has spoken about her career and welcomed what could soon be the end of her decades-long stint with the channel.
Although the magazine cover star admitted it would be “totally sad” if it happened, she admitted the next step in her career was out of her control.
The Malaysian-born presenter also spoke about her plans to celebrate the “double whammy” of turning 60 and marking her 30th wedding anniversary with husband Nigel Sharrocks in July.
With all the excitement ahead, she expressed gratitude for her health and ability to live in the moment, and revealed she wasn’t too concerned about wrinkles.
Veteran journalist Fiona Bruce has revealed she is not afraid of getting older despite turning 60 next month.
She said: “I don’t worry about getting older. I am lucky to be in good health.
“I’ve had very close friends who were in the prime of their lives – very fit and healthy – and then, all of a sudden, they were diagnosed with a very serious form of cancer.
“God forbid it can happen to any of us, so I don’t look in the mirror and think, ‘Oh no, there’s another line’ that definitely exists – lots of ‘between them. I just think, “This is great.” I’m definitely counting my lucky stars.
She added that she hired the DJ from the famous gay club Heaven to play her 60th birthday party.
“It will be as far from a string quartet evening as possible.
“My close girlfriends will also be turning 60, so it’s going to be a really good year.
“We’re already out to dinner, we’re leaving and I’m having a party.”
In a candid interview with Woman and Home, the British journalist and BBC Antiques Roadshow host spoke about her career and welcomed what could soon be the end of her decades-long stint with the channel.
The Malaysian-born presenter also spoke about her plans to celebrate the “double whammy” of turning 60 and marking her 30th wedding anniversary with husband Nigel Sharrocks in July.
A bright dance floor and cocktails are reserved for guests, as Mrs Bruce will also celebrate her 30th wedding anniversary with her husband, Nigel Sharrocks.
They share two adult children and divide their time between their London home in affluent Belsize Park and a country house in Sydenham, Oxfordshire.

Ms Bruce admitted she was “pretty relaxed” about leaving the BBC, even though she worked there for 35 years and presented various flagship shows including News at Six and Crimewatch.
She told Woman and Home: “There will definitely come a time when I want a little freedom from the relentlessness.
“I would love to spend more time doing my own thing.
“The BBC will decide whether they want me to continue doing the job I’m doing or not.
“I got my job because David Dimbleby chose to leave at 80.
“There is one element that is beyond my control but that is the brutal reality of television. You very rarely leave at a time of your choosing.
In 2019, Ms Bruce took over from long-serving Question Time host David Dimbleby on the BBC debate program as its first full-time female presenter, but said it was “without no doubt the hardest job I’ve ever done.”
