Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s recent purchase of a home in Portugal is sparking speculation that it could pave the way for a future royal reconnection. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, known for their independent path since stepping away from royal duties, now have a holiday retreat in the European country that may offer new opportunities for family bonding.
Royal expert Hugo Vickers said the sun: “I think what you say about the connection between the Brooksbank children and Prince Harry’s children could be very significant as the years go by because they will meet their cousins as they grow up. And that could be a very good way in.
“I’ve always thought it’s very sad for Archie and Lilibet to one day realize that their cousin will one day be the King of England, and normally you’d like to get involved with everyone. So I would have thought, it could be a very interesting extension of life, and therefore could be a wonderful entry route. “I think it’s a very important point,” he added.
The royal expert also expressed some concern about the possible future realizations of Archie and Lilibet. He reflected: “It’s very sad for Archie and Lilibet that one day they realize that their cousin will one day be king of England, and normally you’d like to get involved in all that, I think. I would have thought.” He suggested that children’s connection with their royal cousins could provide an “interesting extension” to their lives, offering them a unique route back into royal circles.
Vickers emphasized the importance of these relationships, noting, “That could be a wonderful route in.” His comments hint at the possibility that the Sussex children will one day embrace a closer relationship with their royal roots, despite their parents’ decision to live a life largely separate from the monarchy.
While Meghan and Harry have built their own lives, their new home in Portugal may open doors for their children to maintain, or even strengthen, connections with their royal cousins as they grow up. As family dynamics continue to evolve, this move could serve as a subtle but meaningful bridge between their current independent lifestyle and their royal heritage.
