Nearly two years after his tragic passing, Ellen DeGeneres is paying tribute to her former Ellen show DJ, Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss.
The 66-year-old comedian and former daytime talk show host shared a photo of herself and tWitch on her show in an Instagram post on Sunday, what would have been her 42nd birthday.
The dancer, choreographer and DJ was 40 years old when he took his life in the bathroom of a motel near his home in Los Angeles.
‘Happy birthday witch. “I miss you every day,” Ellen said in her post, which garnered more than 156,000 likes in four hours.
Boss was born in Montgomery, Alabama, and first rose to fame thanks to his dancing in 2003 as a finalist on Star Search.

He met his wife Allison Holker on Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance and married in December 2013, a year before joining Ellen as a DJ and host.
They share son Maddox, 8, and daughter Zaia, and tWitch adopts Holker’s daughter from a previous relationship, Weslie Fowler, 16.
The DJ was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the Oak Tree Motel, a 15-minute walk from his home in Los Angeles, on December 13, 2022.
Ellen said in a statement after his passing: “I am heartbroken.” tWitch was pure love and light. He was my family and I loved him with all my heart.
‘I’ll miss him. Please send your love and support to Allison and her beautiful children: Weslie, Maddox and Zaia.”
Motel staff told DailyMail.com that a maid discovered the DJ’s body while conducting a welfare check after he didn’t leave on time.
They said he used his own name to check into the motel on Monday and was not discovered until Tuesday morning.
tWitch’s widow, Allison Holker, said in a statement at the time: “It is with the greatest of regret that I have to share that my husband Stephen has left us.”

‘He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.
‘To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt.
“I am sure that not a day will pass in which we do not honor his memory. We ask for privacy during this difficult time for me and especially our three children.’
“Stephen, we love you, we miss you and I will always save the last dance for you.”
Holker has since moved on with a new boyfriend named Adam Edmunds, with whom she recently shared that she had found “great love.”
