Chris Pine once again showed his affection for shorts when he was spotted wearing a vibrant red pair while out in Los Angeles on Saturday.
The Star Trek star, 43, who sported a bathrobe to promote his directorial debut Poolman, showed off his muscular physique in skimpy shorts and a green tank top as he stopped at a newsstand in the posh city of Los Happy.
With her graying locks long and loose, the matinee idol added her signature slip-on huarache sandals to the mix.
The revelation comes after Chris responded to The OC’s casting director by revealing that he lost out on a lead role on the TV teen drama due to his acne.
“It’s part of my life,” Chris said Thursday. Happy, Sad and Confused Podcast. ‘The man didn’t have to talk about it. I mean, it’s his prerogative.

In the book Welcome to the OC: The Oral History published in 2023, casting director Patrick Rush talked about Chris auditioning for the role of Ryan Atwood, a role that ultimately went to Ben McKenzie.
‘I hate to say this, but it’s the truth: Chris Pine was at an age where he was experiencing really bad skin problems. And it was at that point where he seemed insurmountable,” Rush said in the book, according to Deadline. “And as a kid who grew up with horrible skin, he just broke my heart.”
On the podcast, Chris mentioned that remembering that he had missed the chance to star in the Fox series gave him “a little bit of PTSD.”
The star also admitted that she had “horrible skin as a teenager.”
He added: ‘Look, I was going to be on The OC, like a teen melodrama. I can understand why they wanted pretty people to do pretty things. And bad acne is not the key (to success).’
Although Chris missed out on a role on the popular series that aired from 2003 to 2007, his path quickly took a detour, leading him to star in The Princess Diaries 2 shortly after.

“I don’t think there’s anything to defend,” Chris joked, referring to his October ensemble that consisted of a pair of skimpy shorts paired with a mustard-yellow hoodie and brown loafers. ‘It’s called short shorts, right? It’s supposed to be short.
He doubled down and added, “Corduroy shorts.” I mean, it’s a vibe. It’s the best vibe. It’s like a Tom Selleck vibe. It’s like a ’70s surfer vibe. I prefer that.’
The Wish star was referring to actor Selleck, who played Richard on Friends and, before that, made a name for himself as the shorts-wearing TV detective Magnum PI.
‘It’s like show time. Lakers, would you rather see them in shorts and Magic Johnson looking like a basketball player and athlete, instead of wearing some sort of capri on the court? Chris continued hilariously. ‘No. “So, I’ll wear shorts.”
As for how long will he be showing his games? ‘Until his legs give out,’ she confessed.
