But the 48-year-old author and former reality TV star admits his advice may seem strange to even the most seasoned cooking expert.

‘I always play classical music when I bake. It’s strange, isn’t it? Curtis said in a new interview with Nine.

“Every time I make a dessert or bake a cupcake, I don’t know, I just want my mood to be very calm and serene,” she added.

The world-renowned restaurateur acknowledges that music has always played a role in his cooking, depending on the dish and the setting.

‘In our restaurant, before service, hard rock and roll plays, even punk music plays. It’s like aggressive and it’s like ‘get your ass in gear.’ Come on. We are walking into battle,’ he said.

Elsewhere in the chat, Curtis said he liked to set aside a whole afternoon for baking cakes, as it was important not to “rush” the process.

It comes after Curtis appeared in a revived supermarket advert which went viral earlier this month.

Made just a few years ago, the commercial was criticized by Australians struggling with the country’s ongoing cost of living crisis.

The 2017 Coles advert focuses on Stone explaining how to “feed your family for $10”.

It was shared on the popular Facebook group Australian Memes this week with the caption: “This guy has been so quiet.”

Stone shows an actual $10 bill in the ad, something that’s also rare these days, and commentators point out that by 2024, the bill would only cover a bag of Coles grated cheese.

The advertising campaign starring Curtis, who is from Melbourne but moved to California 17 years ago, was run by the supermarket in 2010 and again in 2017.

Shoppers in the post said they were frustrated by the cost of food over the past six years.

“Maybe a dry box of Nutri-Grain for dinner,” said one.

“Nowadays I can’t even make sausages and bread for a tenner, maybe two minute noodles,” said another.

“Stores like Coles and Woolworths are partly responsible for Australia’s inflation rate,” argued a third.

Meanwhile, Curtis remains an ambassador for Coles.
