In his upcoming book, ‘War,’ Bob Woodward chronicles Biden’s personal and political struggles and analyzes the president’s blunt, profanity-laced assessments of other world leaders, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Russian president. , Vladimir Putin.

Biden expressed his continued frustration with the Israeli prime minister as the war in Gaza escalated and spread to Rafah, an area in the south filled with refugees.
“He’s a fucking liar,” Biden said of Netanyahu after the invasion began. The prime minister had repeatedly vowed to attack the area at all costs, claiming that Hamas leaders were hiding there.
Biden also directly vented his anger at Netanyahu.
“Bibi, what the fuck?” he said, after an Israeli airstrike killed a top Hezbollah military commander and three civilians in Beirut.
Biden also attempted to warn Netanyahu that Israel was losing credibility in the world and was being seen as a “rogue” actor.
“We saw an opportunity and we took advantage of it,” Netanyahu responded. “The harder you hit, the more successful you will be in negotiating.”
Biden was trying to rein in Israel amid concerns that the fighting could trigger an all-out war in the Middle East.
The White House downplayed the book’s revelations.
Leaders “can have very honest and direct conversations” and ties between the United States and Israel are strong, spokeswoman Emilie Simons told reporters Tuesday.
“We are not going to comment on every anecdote,” he said of the book. “I have no comment on those specific anecdotes.”

The president also repeatedly expressed frustration with Putin.
“That fucking Putin,” Biden said in an Oval Office meeting shortly after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. ‘Putin is evil. We are facing the epitome of evil.’
Woodward’s book is due out on October 15.
Biden also complained that Barack Obama did not do enough to stop Putin in 2014, when the Russian leader invaded Crimea.
