Australian musician Gordi revealed the moment she made Coldplay frontman Chris Martin cry during an event at Melbourne’s Bakehouse Studios on Monday.
The singer-songwriter, 31, whose real name is Sophie Payten, said the pop-rock star, 47, burst into tears when she heard her new single Lunch at Dune.
Gordi took to Instagram the morning after the event to detail the shocking moment, revealing that the Fix You creator “said songs like that deserve to be heard.”
“I started playing the song and at that moment, in the second verse, I was like, ‘What the fuck is going on? “I’m with Chris Martin, calm down,” Gordi said.
‘I close my eyes, lean into the emotion of the song. The next thing I know the song is over, I open my eyes, I look at Chris Martin and he’s crying and tears are coming out of his eyes.
‘He said very nice things about the song. He told me it was beautiful, he said songs like that deserve to be heard.
“It was just the craziest, most beautiful moment of my life. And I can’t believe no one caught it on camera.

Pop singer-songwriter Kian and indie rockers Radio Free Alice were among the guests, and Gordi got a special call from Chris.
‘Apparently, when Chris Martin goes to other countries, he likes to meet local artists. Truly an amazing man; ‘Who could bother doing that when they’re on tour?’ Gordi revealed.
She went on to say that Chris asked the musicians he invited if “there’s an artist in the room named Gordi,” prompting her to raise her hand.
“He said, ‘I’ve heard your music. She’s really beautiful.” I said, “Thank you, Chris Martin,” Gordi detailed.

Chris then invited Gordi to play something on the piano with him, and that’s when he performed his moving new single he recorded with Irish artist SOAK.
“At this point, I’m thinking, ‘I really wish I hadn’t eaten four giant lamb chops,'” Gordi joked.

A leaked tracklist has recently been circulating online, revealing the possible line-up of tracks the band could bring to their sold-out shows in Australia.
Coldplay are expected to play their best-loved hits to a roaring crowd, including Yellow, Viva La Vida and Fix You.
They are also rumored to have a special tribute planned for the late cricket great Shane Warne, who was a close friend of Chris.
The frontman is expected to perform his heartfelt ballad Song For Shane, which was written in tribute to Shane after his death in March 2022.
