Abbie Chatfield shared a video of herself talking about her “heartbreak” over an “unfaithful” Adam Hyde video, but not everything was as it initially seemed.
The Bachelor star, 29, took to Instagram on Saturday to share a video of her boyfriend Adam and asked her fans “is this cheating?” in a caption.
The video first showed a clip of Adam being fed a whole egg by a mystery person sitting across the table from him, before Abbie revealed her reaction to the “cheating” incident.
She broke down in tears as she recounted how “heartbroken” she was to see the images, with many of her fans not realising she was actually joking.
Abbie was forced to clarify that she was faking tears and doesn’t really believe that being given an egg by her Peking Duk bandmate Reuben Styles is cheating.
“I’m so shocked I have to say this but it’s a joke,” after many fans took her cheating accusations seriously upon seeing the video.
In the video, Abbie faked tears and pretended to be “heartbroken” over the video, telling her fans that dating a touring musician isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
“Adam and I have an agreement that when he’s on tour, obviously dates are very stressful because when they’re on tour you’re thinking what’s the worst thing they can do, what are they going to do,” she said.

The Bachelor star, 29, took to Instagram on Saturday to share a video of her boyfriend Adam being fed a whole egg, asking her fans ‘is this cheating?’, before later clarifying that she was joking.
‘It actually breaks my heart to see this because it’s like we have an agreement that I told him when I first started dating him: when they’re on tour, I really don’t want Reuben to feed him whole eggs anymore!
‘I don’t understand why he would do that! And then he would post it on social media. I don’t understand why he would allow Reuben to feed him a whole egg to swallow whole, as if it were ours.
“I don’t get it, it’s stressful dating a musician, guys, it’s not what you think.”
In the caption, she added: “I can’t believe I did this. Is this cheating?”
Abbie went on to reveal that her fans accused her of being “insecure” and “controlling” and that they didn’t realise she wasn’t serious.
Abbie later took to her Instagram Stories to jokingly reassure her 479,000 followers that she and Adam had reconciled following the alleged lovers’ quarrel.
She shared a screenshot of her last text message to him, which read: ‘I love you so much baby and I forgive you for the egg.’
Adam is currently on tour with his electronic music bandmate Reuben and the pair will take to the stage on August 9th in Fortitude Valley.
Duo Peking Duk are also scheduled to perform in Sydney on August 10, before heading to places including Airlie Beach and Douglas later in the month.
Abbie confirmed her romance with singer Adam earlier this year after weeks of speculation, and they have been together ever since.
Abbie confirmed her romance with singer Adam earlier this year after weeks of speculation, and they have remained close ever since.
She frequently shares loved-up photos and tributes to him on social media, while he has also appeared on her podcast It’s A Lot to discuss their romance.
Earlier this month, Abbie sweetly told him Star Magazine that her relationship with Adam is the best she’s ever had.
“He’s not like other people I’ve had affairs with. And this may sound a little weird, but he’s had a bigger career than I have,” she said amid concerns from fans that Adam is “using” her for fame.
“I don’t think he’s using me for anything. He’s successful in his own right. I think I’m a good person for being with him, not the other way around.”
Abbie was friends with Adam for two years before they started dating, which she says has increased the trust between them.
“I guess it’s different with Adam, because I trust in the solidity of our relationship. But, also, us going out together is not something new. We’ve been going out together in public for years,” she said.
