MasterChef Australia contestant Juan De La Cruz has revealed the serious injury he suffered on set.
Taking to Instagram on Monday, the Argentine-born aspiring chef, 39, shared details of a cooking oil accident while in the MasterChef practice kitchen.
Juan uploaded a photo of his bandaged hand while in the emergency room at Alfred Hospital in Melbourne.
In the caption, she wrote: ‘An eventful day practicing in the MasterChef kitchen left me in hot oil! Hands and face, oh.’

It comes as the hit cooking competition saw its first elimination on Sunday night’s episode.
James Holmes was booted from the show after his squid dish failed to impress the judges.
Juan continued: ‘A huge thank you to the… MasterChef team for their quick action to ensure I got the best medical care. Happy to share that, thanks to the wonderful staff at Alfred Hospital, I will be back in the kitchen tonight!’
The 38-year-old from Western Australia offered calamari with parsley-tahini sauce and acacia seed pita.
Unfortunately, the judges found the squid tough and undercooked and Poh Ling Yeow called it one of the “least impressive dishes” of the episode.
“James, with conflicting flavors and undercooked calamari, your execution just wasn’t there,” Sofia Levin said.
On Sunday’s episode of MasterChef Australia, the first contestant eliminated from the 2024 season was sent home. James Holmes was kicked off the show after his squid dish failed to impress the judges.

‘In the end, one of your dishes failed more than the others. That’s why, James, I’m sorry, you’re going home.
James, originally from England, took the defeat well.
‘It has been a wonderful experience. “It has been a privilege to be with these guys and cook in front of their watching eyes,” she said.
“And I would like to thank you all for the opportunity, but also for the compassion with which you give us not-so-good news.”
James added: “I’m proud of myself. It’s that strange feeling of being proud of yourself but also quite disappointed.
But, you know, it’s not about “Be the best.” It’s just, “Do your best and enjoy it.” So, yeah, I’m proud of that.”
