Kumar, originally from Jhansi in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, is the only member of his family with a growth deficiency.
His family said they had taken him to the doctor when he was a toddler, after he stopped growing physically when he was five.
His mother, who now carries him on her hip, said they learned he suffered from a “thyroid disease” that was impeding his growth.
