A man has broken the internet after visiting the UK’s cheapest hotel and giving it a positive review.
George Redfern recently stayed at the White Moon Hotel in Blackpool for a total of just £9 for a Friday night in his own private room.
The 21-year-old from Wirral, Merseyside, documented his stay on TikTok, where he has almost half a million views and nine thousand likes.
Despite revealing some alleged problems, including a leak in the ceiling, a cracked mirror and broken sockets and light bulbs, George still gave the hotel a five-star rating.
George said: “My expectations were very low because I’ve stayed in a lot of cheap or poorly rated hotels before (so) I wasn’t expecting anything different – basic necessities, probably a bit dirty, but bearable.”
George Redfern stayed in the UK’s ‘cheapest hotel’ for just £9 a night – but said it was surprisingly nice.

“I think for the price of my room it was actually a good stay.
“The room was big. I had a working TV, the bathroom was clean, the heating was very good and kept me warm. I also found the bed to be really comfortable.
“I didn’t complain about any of the problems – the cracked mirror didn’t really bother me and neither did the power socket, although it was a bit dangerous how exposed it was!
“The two missing bulbs annoyed me because the room was already dark, but I couldn’t complain because it was too cheap.
“I’ve stayed in a hotel room before for £17, but that was for one person, so this one I stayed in recently was for two people for £18 – which cuts the cost in half .”
George’s room seemed quite spacious with a double bed, chest of drawers and storage, while the towels were neatly folded at the end of the bed. However, there was a lack of natural light, made worse by broken light bulbs.
He was also not given soap in the bathroom, but the bed and bathroom were clean so he did not deduct any stars.
The hotel boasts a five-star food hygiene rating on the front door, although it does not offer breakfast or dinner.

George felt “annoyed” when he realized two of the bulbs were broken, but felt he couldn’t complain due to the low price.
George said there was a leak in the ceiling of the hotel reception area.
He wasn’t bothered by the broken power outlet (left) or the cracked mirror – but he thought the power outlet could be dangerous.
After sharing her stay on TikTok, social media users were quick to share their thoughts.
Andy wrote: “£9 is a steal to be fair. »
George replied: “Unreal, isn’t it?
Others said: ‘For £9 you can’t really complain’; “I know where to stay (the) next time I go to Blackpool”;
“Can’t complain for £9, clean bed, toilet, sink and safe”;
‘£9. I would move in and live there for months.
One TikTok user even went so far as to say that the UK’s so-called cheapest hotel was a better deal than their rental accommodation: “Less hassle and cheaper than my rent.”
George added in the comments section that the White Moon Hotel is just five minutes from Blackpool’s Central Pier, where there are plenty of entertainment options like arcade games and rides.
The hotel has a five-star food hygiene rating, although it does not offer breakfast or dinner.
George left a very positive five-star review, saying it had “great views” and “great value for money”.
The view from George’s window left a lot to be desired – but again it was good value for £9.
There were basic amenities such as tea and coffee provided in the room
Prices appear to have increased since George’s stay, averaging £28 during the summer months. However, the £18 offer is still available for the last days of March.
The content creator has also previously visited one of the UK’s lowest-rated hotels, the Assheton Arms Hotel in Manchester, which has just 1.7 stars on Google and 1.5 stars on TripAdvisor.
He booked a one-night stay for £30 and said he was ultimately surprised he had spent the night in the “terrible” hotel.
George said: “I wanted to see if the criticism of the hotel was justified and give the hotel a chance to redeem itself from all the bad reviews they have received.
Viewers were stunned by the £9 price tag – with one even saying it had “less hassle” and was “cheaper” than their rent.
“I now understand why one commenter said it was the worst night of their life.”
MailOnline has contacted the White Moon Hotel for comment.
A representative for the Assheton Arms Hotel previously said: “We have watched the video and it has a positive vibe.
“This is new management trying to generate positive reviews for our hotel.
“We hope to raise our reviews to close to 10 stars.”
