X Factor star Laura White is to release her debut album 16 years after appearing on the ITV competition.

The singer, 36, appeared in series five of the show in 2008 alongside the likes of Alexandra Burke, JLS and Eoghan Quigg, and was favorite to win.

In the years since, she has written tracks for Beverley Knight and Rita Ora and earned a Grammy nomination for her song, New York Raining.

Laura is now set to release her first album, Woman To Woman, in November this year.

She announced the news on Instagram this week, writing: ‘My debut album is finally here for PRE-ORDER!!!! 15+ years in the making.’

The musician continued: ‘Made with some of the world’s greatest songwriters. My story… please support its independence. We have had 3 top 5 eps, I know my fans are the best!!!!

‘This album is for you, I wanted it to be a work for you to hear my voice sing, songs that could have been written for Frank Sinatra & Amy & Ella, all the songs that move you and for that musicianship , there must be only the very best. Woman to Woman pre-order now.’

Laura had been favorite to win the talent competition but was eliminated after judges Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell failed to save her.

Judge Dannii said: ‘The Laura debacle has highlighted that anything can happen every week. Now Laura’s gone, the main Team Minogue competition is Diana and Alexandra – they’re amazing.’

Cheryl was furious with fellow judges Simon, Dannii and Louis after they voted Laura off following her sing-off against Ruth Lorenzo.

Meanwhile, Laura admitted that the pressure of being one of the favorites to win had got to her and it dented her confidence during her performance.

She told The sun at that point: ‘The pressure builds and it can start to affect you. I didn’t completely lose confidence – but I worked so hard for so many years and I really believed this would be my big break.’

Laura admitted that the comments about her appearance were particularly hard to take.

Simon especially had a problem with her styling and complained about it every week.

She explained: ‘The comments bothered me a bit but Cheryl used to say, “Just keep at it – they find it hard to say anything bad about your song, they’ve got to say something.”

Organizers of an online petition supporting Laura at the time called on Ofcom to launch an investigation into voting procedures on the show.

The issue was raised by her local MP Andy Burnham in the Houses of Parliament, who claimed her exit from the show was ‘harsh’.

Her debut single You Should Have Known was released in 2009 and peaked at number 32 on the UK Singles Chart.
