Motorists have been warned to expect long delays after a head-on collision on Anzac Parade in Sydney’s east.

Emergency services rushed to the scene near Centennial Park following reports that drivers collided at around 6.50am.

Traffic quickly built up in both directions, creating major congestion on the already busy route.

One northbound lane was closed and southbound traffic was also affected, Transport NSW said.

“One man was treated for a minor back injury, no one else was injured,” police said.

The cars have since been removed from the scene and police are investigating the cause of the accident.

Heavy traffic conditions are expected, and motorists are urged to slow down and prepare to merge.
