Brittany Mahomes opened up about the early days of her relationship with now-NFL superstar Patrick Mahomes while they were high school classmates.
Speaking on the Whoop Podcast, Brittany opened up about how the early days of their relationship ended up turning into their marriage.
She explained that Patrick was the one who made the first move and that things may have started as a joke.
‘We were friends for a long time. He tried to date me for a while, but I wasn’t having it. I stayed in my zone, doing what I wanted.
‘One day at lunch, because we sat at the same table every day, (he) was trying to be cheesy, I guess you could say: (he) wrote me a Valentine’s letter and brought me a rose and it was really nice.

An Instagram post from Brittany Mahomes’ account celebrating their relationship.
“I thought it was the cutest thing in the world and he was just doing it to, I don’t know, be sarcastic?
“I really liked that he tried to make it super sweet and I think from there we started talking and then we started dating.”
When asked how legitimately they took their relationship in those early days, Brittany admits that they didn’t take things too seriously at first.
‘I don’t think it was anything serious, because we were like 16 so we weren’t really thinking about the future and what it would be like down the road, because he was only a sophomore and I was a junior and we were still in high school.
“I don’t think when we first started dating we thought it would turn into this, but I’m really happy that it has and we’re really enjoying life together.”
Mahomes has liked several social media posts over the past week supporting Donald Trump in the upcoming election, a position that appears to be at odds with that of his new BFF Taylor Swift, who is dating Patrick’s Kansas City Chiefs teammate Travis Kelce.
In that same WHOOP podcast interview, Brittany credited Patrick with helping her learn to block out any criticism she receives online as her fame continues to grow.
“He’s really good at blocking people, so having him next to me has helped,” he said.
She also talked about how Patrick helped her learn to deflect criticism.
‘The most important thing he always told me was to stop worrying about what people think, especially people who don’t even know you.
‘I think social media used to affect me a lot. Now, honestly, I don’t give a shit what people have to say about me anymore. And I think he’s helped me get to that point.
“I’m strong in who I am. I’m confident in who I am. I’m confident in my relationship with him and in myself and I’m confident in our lives. So why does it matter what other people say?”
