A woman has died after being hit by a car in Sydney’s south.
The woman, in her 60s, was walking when she was hit near the intersection of Forest Road and Pritchard Place in Peakhurst at around 5.45pm on Friday.
Emergency services were called to the scene after receiving numerous calls about the incident, which involved a 4×4 vehicle.
“Despite the efforts of first responders, the pedestrian, a woman believed to be in her 60s, died at the scene,” New South Wales Police said in a statement.
The driver of the 4×4 vehicle, a man in his 40s, was taken to St George’s Hospital for mandatory tests.
Specialized police officers arrived at the scene to investigate the cause of the incident.
Two of the three lanes of westbound Forest Rd to Pritchard Pl have been closed. Motorists are urged to avoid the area.
Long delays are expected and drivers are advised to exercise caution in the area.
