In today’s episode of The exempt listCharles McDonald joins NFL writer Diante Lee of The Ringer to discuss how some former defensive coaches will fare as their teams’ new head coaches.

They start the show by discussing some current topics in the NFL, including Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper getting approval for public funds to renovate Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. While fans will be happy to have a much better stadium, there seems to be a bitter feeling about helping out an owner who hasn’t helped his team much in recent years.

Charles and Diante then move on to the main topic of the episode: how the new generation of defensive-minded head coaches will fare in their first years on the job for their respective teams. To start the conversation, they talk about how Dan Quinn will fare at the helm of the Washington Commanders, even though he apparently wasn’t his first choice during the recruiting cycle. They also discuss whether Antonio Pierce’s success as interim head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders was largely due to the competition his team faced and whether Jerod Mayo will be able to duplicate Bill Belichick’s success with the New England Patriots defense. .

The boys close the program by giving their opinion on the feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, the importance of “The Pop Out – Ken & Friends” concert and why this feud brought back memories of the old days of rap.
