France star and captain Kylian Mbappé missed training on the eve of the start of his team’s Euro 2024 campaign.
Didier Deschamps was the kickstart of their campaign on Monday against Austria, and he will have to be present in their games if he wants to avoid stumbles in what has been called “the group of death.”
However, it has potentially left them sweating over their star man, who did not attend an open training session, which hosted 4,000 fans, in Paderborn on Thursday, although it is understood he does not have a serious problem.
The now Real Madrid forward missed the session to manage his workload after ending his season with PSG injured, so his team took additional precautions.
He played just 15 minutes in France’s final Euro Cup warm-up match last week (a 0-0 draw with Canada) and his team hopes he will be available for the game against Austria.
France star and captain Kylian Mbappé missed his team’s open training on Thursday.
The forward was lost as a precaution, but came out towards the end to greet and pose with the fans in Germany.
Kingsley Coman also missed training due to an illness that plagues the France camp
Deschamps spoke on the issue, saying after the Canada game: “Kylian took a knock during the last game on Wednesday and before the session, he had a significant bruise on his knee.
“He received treatment, he was much better today, but even if he wanted to risk everything, there was no risk to take.”
The 25-year-old worked alone in the gym instead of training as a team, while 24 of the 26 players participated.
Kingsley Coman was the other man absent, as the striker had to deal with illness in the run-up to the competition.
Mbappé came out onto the field at the end of the session to greet the fans and pose for photos, although Coman did not.
Reports have suggested that the illness is a cause for concern, with several members of the team having problems, including Deschamps himself, although no one else had enough problems to not attend the session.
Ousmane Dembélé spoke on the subject, as he himself had had to deal with an illness in recent days, but revealed that he was feeling better. He said: ‘I had the flu last week and I was the first, but I feel much better now. The team is much better. Everyone will be fine in a couple of days.

John Stones had been confined to his hotel room due to illness but has returned to training
England had also been hit by disease, and John Stones was confined to his hotel room for fear of it spreading in the countryside.
However, he only missed one training session and returned to the team on Wednesday to alleviate any concerns over his absence from his team’s first group stage match.
England begin their campaign on Sunday against Serbia and are already without first-choice centre-back Harry Maguire due to injury.
