Zendaya’s go-to stylist, Law Roach, has spoken about which big fashion brands wouldn’t dress the star at the beginning of her career.
The 45-year-old tailoring expert, responsible for the 27-year-old beauty’s stunning red carpet looks, appeared on the Cutting Room Floor podcast this week, where he named ‘the big five’ designers who refused to lend their pieces . to Euphoria in her first days in show business.
‘I would write the big five. I would write Saint Laurent, Chanel, Gucci, Valentino, Dior. And everyone would say no,” Law said.
He said legacy labels often told them to “try again next year,” that Zendaya was “too green” or that “she’s not on our calendar.”
‘…And I still have the receipts,’ he added. ‘When she came to American Vogue, she had still never (worn) any of those designers. He hasn’t done it yet,” Law said.

Law went on to point out that her client ultimately wore Valentino, due to the designer hiring her for a campaign in 2020.
He also clarified that the Oakland native has modeled pieces from some of the five brands strictly in fashion editorials, but never on a red carpet.
Roach, who is from Chicago, noted: “She has never worn Dior on a rug. She has still never worn Chanel on a carpet. She still has never worn Gucci on a carpet: in any press, in any appearance, ever. Never.
“The first time she wore Valentino in public was when she was under contract, so when I said, ‘If you say no, it’s a no forever,’ that rang true for a long, long time.”
Zendaya, whose full name is Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman, and Law are known for creating immaculate and bold looks.
Recently, the Dune actress delighted fans at her Challengers press tour, where each look was tennis-themed, in keeping with the film.
And on Monday at the 2024 Met Gala, Zendaya nailed the Garden of Time theme with two different outfits.
Law was by her side, walking her up the stairs at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, both shifts.

Law retired from her job as a fashion stylist in 2023, after being turned down for a front-row seat at a Louis Vuitton Fashion Week show in Paris.
He posted a photo on Instagram showing a red sign that said “RETIRED” written in large white letters.
‘My Cup is empty…thank you to everyone who has supported me and my career over the years. “I am very grateful for every person who entrusted me with his image,” he wrote in the caption. ‘If this business was just about clothes, I would do it for the rest of my life, but unfortunately it’s not!’ he added.
‘The politics, lies and false narratives finally got me! You win… I’m out.’
Roach has continued to work with Zendaya, whom he affectionately refers to as his “little sister,” and has taken on other notable fashion projects in addition to styling.
He currently co-hosts the new E! OMG Fashun entertainment competition series alongside Julia Fox.
